What’s in a name? I think we all struggle with titling our builds and giving our bikes a name. I’ve changed bike names in the past, mid build. Sometimes it just doesn’t feel right. Is it a he? Or she? Or whatever? Does it evoke thoughts of muscle cars and hot rods? It’s rather difficult to find a name that fits the bike and also expresses your intent with the build. My dad had a friend who built an insanely fast Chevelle show car in the 70’s/80’s. It was named “Hot & Nasty” and was emblazoned on the side of the car. The car really was hot & nasty. I look for name inspiration through things like: Vintage Weird Wheels Trading cards, old Rod and Custom magazine features, old Gasser names, names of marijuana strains , and general juxtaposition of words. It’s fun finding a fitting name but it can be a tough task. Is it cool or corny? What is your process? What will be your build’s name?
