    fork truss rods

Does anyone make truss rods for front forks? I have a 1939 Firestone Pilot and want to add these to it. I've seen NOS Schwinn truss rods on ebay for $50, but I don't want to spend that much - this IS a rat rod, after all . . .

Beautiful! Amazing craftsmanship. Can you ride it? Up a hill? It looks HEAVY.

    Red Rims

I painted mine. They were nasty when I started. http://www.creativegrowth.biz/my_first_ ... /index.htm I sanded the chrome first, then used a self-etching primer. I try to salvage as many original parts as possible.

    26x1.75 vs. 26x2.125

I didn't have any problem with my rims. http://www.creativegrowth.biz/my_first_ ... /index.htm The problem I had was with clearance in the back of the frame. I had to "true" my back rim and get it perfectly aligned in the frame to avoid interference.

    This is our Year!

I'm not Chinese, but a good friend is. And he is was born in a Rat year - so was his son, and his father. I was born in a "...." year(some people call it a Rooster).

According to the Chinese calendar, 2008 is the year of the RAT! Let's make the most of it!

    My First Rat

26ers. They just fit. I have to try to true the back rim. One part of the tire hits when its spinning. I guess Huffy didn't have these big tires in mind when they made this bike.

    My First Rat

The kickstand was from bikeworldusa.com. I would recommend them to anyone.

    My First Rat

Thanks. I cut the lense from a cheap battery-powered closet light I found at the hardware store. The lense is too big to fall out the front, and I made two prongs on the new light "innards" to apply pressure to the back of the lense to keep it in place.

    My First Rat

I just finished my first Rat! http://www.creativegrowth.biz/my_first_ ... /index.htm It is a 1960s Huffy(not sure what year - I didn't find any stampings). I'm not sure what model it was? The Galaxie and Silver Jet seem to be similar. Although the bike looks good in the "before" photo, it was...

    48 tooth sprocket

Thanks everyone! I'm going to order a 44 tooth sprocket.

    48 tooth sprocket

I am working on an old Huffy cruiser and the front sprocket needs to be replaced. It has 48 teeth. Most sprockets available seem to have 44 teeth. Can I use a 44 tooth sprocket instead? I assume this is just a slightly smaller diameter gear.
