    1967 Murray/Sears "Sketchy Gretchy"

Got the serial number 502 46202 1857804 today and the only one I can find in the Sears catalogs was from 1967. The same catalog had a black and white seat for sale, but I'm not sure if that was the Royce Union like mine, or they bought it somewhere else. 1968 Wishbook had the same speedometer...

Columbia & Sears Identification Help Please

502 46202 1857804 is the serial number. From what I've gathered on the C.A.B.E. the 502 means "Made for Sears". I spent a little bit flipping through Sears catalogs online and the only one I could find with the same serial number was in the 1967 Fall & Winter catalog. There is a black and white...

Columbia & Sears Identification Help Please

Got it, but not sure if I'm reading it right. According to this thread it's a 1965? This is what I got: 502462021857804

    1967 Murray/Sears "Sketchy Gretchy"

Picked this old gal up yesterday along with a 1958 Columbia 24". I haven't been able to find the serial number just yet, but I'm assuming it's buried under the basket mounts on the dropout, so I will hopefully find that when I get a chance to remove those brackets. The plan for now is just a...

Columbia & Sears Identification Help Please

Thanks for the help guys. I found the serial# D172665 on the left rear dropout of the Columbia. According to this site, that means it's a 1958 Columbia. I still haven't found a serial number anywhere on the Sears/Murray. I've checked both dropouts inside and out, under the seat, under the...

Columbia & Sears Identification Help Please

Just picked these two up today and trying to pin down the year of manufacture. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've looked under the bottom bracket of each, and I'm not seeing any stamped numbers. Should I be looking elsewhere? First one as best I can tell is a late 1950's Columbia...

    The Shenandoah Speedster

Thanks for all the help. Got any pics of the proper head badge for a 1937 Colson LWB? I'd like to find one for her eventually. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I'm thinking about it. At first I planned on outlining the scallops with a bright red, but the more I look at it the way it is, the more I'm digging it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Good grief, I just noticed how huge of a difference the scrub down made today. I knew it was quite a bit, but wasn't aware of exactly how drastic it was until I just compared the before and after. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    The Shenandoah Speedster

That would make sense then. After doing a bunch more looking around on the Google, found a bunch of Colson serial numbers that look very similar. Mine says 7872E which I would assume the first numeral 7 to be the year and the letter E to mean the month of May. Apparently Colson changed their...

Any idea of year? Sprocket looks to original to the frame. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    The Shenandoah Speedster

That's what was suggested at first, but the snowflake sprocket suggests 1935-ish Hawthorne. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Did some more scrubbing on the frame. Found the original colors were black with white scallops. Apparently someone felt the need to spray bomb the whole thing red at some point. Cool patina though. Sprayed a coat of matte clear over the frame for now. Stripes to come soon the she'll get a gloss...
