Just sold the big one 65cm yesterday to a guy who was 6'6". You must have been my good luck charm.

New build on an old Cannondale

The buyer said it was the first time he ever really had a bike that fit him. I think he was closer to 6'7". It looked good (correct) when he was riding.

Karate Chicken - you are agood luck token. You had commented as 65cm being a huge seat tube - just sold my 66cm Cannondale yesterday. Your words must have brought the 6'6" buyer.

If you think 65 is huge, I've got a 66 cm too that's already finished and up for sale. The 66cm is a L.L. Bean Special Edition Cannondale, sold only in LL Bean department stores in New England in the late 1980s. It's in good shape, but I didn't get that one painted due to the L.L. Bean...

In house now - I've got two untouched frames. There's a BIG Cannondale, 65cm, complete with an original front fork. And a 54cm Trek. Both could use a new coat of paint, but in good shape otherwise. Both have 1-inch straight headsets. Not really what you asked for, but well.... you asked. I'll...

New build on an old Cannondale

For components: Shimano 105 groupset 2x11, including rim brakes; 11-34T on the cassette; Cane Creek 40 headset and ToSeek drop bars; Superteam carbon fiber wheels 27mm rim width with a 55mm dish. Pedals are dual function - Shimano SPD on one side, and flats on the other. All said and done...

I've sort of given up on selling them for what they're worth. I don't make any profit on them or even make money for my labor - it was my alternative to going out to dinner and entertainment. The market has been a total flip-flop from last year for the restorations, which was my first year as...

    Bike valuation for insurance company?

When the insurance company asks, unless they say something very specific about valuations, the value that you put on each bike is up to you. Period. Obviously, if you start valuing $300 bikes at $3000, it may raise some eyebrows (and claims of fraud) if you ever make a claim. Market price is...

New build on an old Cannondale

I see what you're talking about. It's just a bad angle on the photo, or an illusion. Top tube looks great, although there's a 1mm dent near the R600 decal. It's so small, it's almost imperceptible.

New build on an old Cannondale

Just got back this 1989 Cannondale R600 frame from the powder coat paintshop. I slapped on some decals today, and gave it a clearcoat. I'll keep updating the thread as the build progresses. All parts are here - except for the Chinese carbon wheels. Those aren't expected for another two weeks.

    Gravel bikes

Sorry, with that plea for no pics, I couldn't resist. But no worries, you can't buy this bike anywhere. I built it last winter. This is a custom Candy Apple Red paint job on a Chinese carbon fiber frame, fully integrated headset and full internal cabling (looking for the cables in the photo is...

Thanks, Jason. I've got three of them, almost identical, that I'm trying to sell.

It helps alot that I found a marvelous powdercoat paint shop in the industrial section of Baltimore. They strip and paint the bike for $125 (an extra $25 if you include the front fork). I would have paid them that much, with a smile, just to strip it. When it comes back from shop, I put...

The Cannondales all end up as road bikes, weighing in at just under 19 lbs. They look almost new when they're done.
