I had some extra Chainguard parts so I used some for the brake arm. More scotch brite, more stainless hardware.

Down to the final details. Nothing screams hot rod to me like the waffle style pedals. The condition of these that I found matched the bike perfectly.

I always wanted to use some of the Thompson coke bottles in metal flake. I feel like the red wheels, the slick, the black Naugahyde and these metal flake grips drive my 60s hot rod look home.

One of the first pieces I bought is the last to go on. Using the LaSalle badge just seemed like a natural fit to me.
 
There is so much to like about this bike!
I too used stainless hardware on my bike, I like the ‘warm’ tone is brings (and the rust resistance in my climate is a plus).
Can’t wait to see the Finished bike!
 
So here it is! Like said at the start. My goal was to build this 1940 Schwinn LaSalle with enough original parts to make people think I “ruined” a perfectly good original, rather than cobble one together with parts from all over the country. A little bit of customization and a few key 60’s style hot rod parts, along with a ton of elbow grease to get all the metal matching, and I got the exact look I was going for. Dude! speed holes in the seat frame, I'm totally stealing that idea! that whole bike is just perfect
 
Haha, right! I already want to revamp the Shelby I built here a few years ago with that and a few other things! Thanks for the kudos, man!
 
Awesome. Wicked mix of parts and I love the combo of the raw steel, red and black. I gotta get me one of those speed hole dies. Well done.
