Cutting down the fork tube looked cool with sparks spinning around inside...

A shot of my Team Superlight Planet X next to Kaiju. The only concession to comfort I've made was the shock seatpost. I can't even tell you ($50) what I paid for this bike but I will say it was saved it from a scrappers truck for $10.00! Dusty from hanging in the rafters.

My favorite detail are the "brifters" brake handles that double as the shifters! Pretty wild to me.

I continue to adjust and tweak this set of bars. I know real TT bikes usually don't have brakes but this setup is too busy to mount a set on anyway. So it's not finalized yet. As much as I like the aluminum drops, I'm actually thinking of a straight bar, because access to the brakes would be quick and simple.

Drop bars look sporty and I have a few drop bar bikes, but for the many of us that do not race, they can be impractical and even uncomfortable. I will take a drop bar bike out for a quick sprint around, but my normal is with a flat or butterfly bar for a 30km. ride at touring or party pace.

Yeah so there's also that obvious choice, ride comfortably or look like a TT bike. Neither addresses the brake issue. But just for kicks let's see the original intent from back on post #4.
Kaiju? Well it is a Nishiki frame so something Japanese would be apropos and sci-fi too, simple anime would be too easy maybe Atomic Punk... (That's after Steam Punk but before Diesel Punk) I'm thinking a TT bike with a fun paint scheme. Many seem to have paint rivaling the best Muscle Bikes so that's a challenge right there. How authentic can I get without breaking the bank?
Hmm, no help there either except maybe a reminder to myself that it's an art bike not a daily rider and don't break the bank.

So I did some more bondo this morning and I did this...

If you flip them over they can be used as wall hangers. There won't be any on this build but if I was using drops they'd be wrapped in old Benotto tape.

A famous late soviet design. I was hesitating to post it once i saw your post :)
ЦКТБ Тахион, CKTB Tachyon.
I saw that. Takhion in English I think? But Tachyon looks right too. All good, I've always had deep feelings for all the peaceful Russian people. (peaceful people everywhere for that matter) They shouldn't bear the brunt of hatred because of their "leaders" military actions. I also read their disc wheels are very good, made in a factory that made aircraft landing gear.
