It's the reason I do these contests. I wouldn't stay motivated and focused if it weren't for the encouragement and help.
 
Before I start on adding the stripes to the top of the seat I wanted clean up the undercarriage. I didn’t take a before pic, but there was a good bit of surface corrosion. So I sanded it up a bit, masked it, and shot it with gloss black.

It’s in the 40s here, so I’ll let it set till after Xmas. Then I’ll get going on the stripes.
 
Wowsers that's looking cool! Chain guard is a work of art. If you're going to wrap the stripes around the seat you should separate the pans. Not a big deal the cover will stay wrapped around the top pan. Just slip a putty knife or something between to make sure it slides off the bottom. Pry out the little anchor tabs as well.
That way you can wrap the stripes around and secure them under the pan.
 
@Chad T the pans have a weird rivet deal down the sides. I thought about splitting them, but I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to get them back together correctly, and I can’t afford any more slow downs with 3 more projects to build behind this one.

Yeah that's the anchor tabs I was talking about. The newer Persons pans have those. They're just punched out of the pan and pushed into the vinyl. Understand not wanting complications though.
 
I can’t say I’m in love with the seat. I think i overdid it with the stripes. Too wide? Maybe it’s just because I’m not used to them. And the green is a lot of emerald against the green of the bike, but I guess they don’t have to match perfectly.

I’ve got clean up on the seat, then install the sissy, then I’m going to call this one complete and get on with the next!
 
Your bike is like an AMC. When they decided to make muscle cars they where extreme to what the big three did. Stripes to the max, over the top. I lived by a dealer, every time I seen them, I liked them more. A Krate is a Camaro. Your bike is an AMX. Rare and awesome. I love it, seat and all. Keep them coming, and keep us posted.
 
The sun broke out late in the day before the next storm rolls in. Not early enough to do a full photo shoot, but I got a couple pictures with some “golden hour” some Sun on it.

I’m 6’4”, so this looks like it’s taken from a ladder… but kids bikes are just really small. That’s a perspective I forgot when I spend so many hours focusing on details just a few inches away.

It’s prolly written somewhere, lost to me. …but what do you do with these bikes when they are done? i see some where for customer, friends and such. But do you collect them all?

I sell them. I’m not a collector. No room. My joy is in the restoration process. I usually lose money, but I try to at least break even for parts and paint.
