A friend gave me this Murray Westport 26" cruiser. I think it will make a nice one. It rides real good, has SAE hardware and American parts (Hunt Wilde USA grips, UNION USA pedals, Persons USA seat).

It has many coats of paint. I see surf green under the silver and a purple or faded maroon under that.

The welds are amazing!

The seat post is 7/8" (22.2). One spring has slipped out of the track on the Persons seat. It has a stretchy one piece rubbery cover. I'm hoping the sun will heat that up and let me pull it off the pan to fix the spring.

If you soak it in hot water it will suck up some of the water and soften a little. But beware of that wet rubber cuts much easier than dry rubber.

I've had bad luck trying to take the seat covers off, they usually tear if they are old. Can you pop the spring back in without taking the cover off?

The seat came out better than I expected. Before I read the above cautions I put it in the sun on a black surface. After a little warming the cover came off fairly easy. I repaired the spring mount with a metal punch and gave the pan a quick paint. While I had the pan drying in the sun the rubber cover was left out to warm up too. It went back on easier than it came off. Finally, I cleaned the cover. If I ride this bike very far I will use my Hobson ergonomic saddle, but it is good to know the original is in good shape.
