Slightly Late Greetings from the perenial new guy. My name is Ronald, current domicile is in Fla. I'm pleased to make acquaintence with all-y'all. My current bike stable is also my daily transportation. Cannondale & Trek hardtails, Rebike 600 recumbent bike, 7 spd trike, & several projects & a small pile of parts, NONE of which do folks around me comprehend... ("Why do you need so many? You can only ride one at a time," etc.) O, the newest stallion is a 32" bought to cannibalize for my recumbent, but too nice to cut. Besides, it came with a couple extra wheels, so I want a few more matching parts (fenders, fork, that huge seat, them red tires, etc.) Likes travel, been over much of Earth, got lots more to see in the 2nd 60 years. Bill Hailey & the Comets hit #1 on the charts with Rock Around the Clock in 1955, & rock 'n roll was born... & so was I. Yes, I'm that old, but refusing to grow old. I'm also a 'Nam Vet, last of the Brown Water Navy. More on that later, film at 11.

Welcome to the rat rod bikes commander.

I’m just a rookie here too, being in less than a year, but like you I was born in the age of rock ‘n’ roll and will soon be 68.

My father was a forward combat air controller on operation rolling thunder. They sent him to Vietnam right after Kennedy got shot. Back in 1964.

I never got drafted because they stopped the draft before my number came up, but I would not have been sent. I was already being recruited to go to the Academy For computer studies. (IBM in Biloxi) I wanted to go to General Motors Institute, but luckily I ended up studying engineering in Utah.

Anyhow we were posted to at least 12 different bases on the northern border, and Luke in Phoenix.

One day my beautiful wife made the mistake of saying, “We should have more bicycles so we can ride when the kids and grandkids come over.”

There are four kids and seven grandkids to think about so that’s 13 not including my niece and sister, so say 15. Where the heck am I going to put them?

Anyhow I am now working on bike number nine, for the youngest granddaughter.

Welcome aboard
Thanks, guys. I wonder if Da Beach is connected to Daytona Speedway. Wouldn't that be sumpin'? Red daily ride Cannondale M300 is down for repairs; gray Trek (spare) is now daily ride; the 27.5" Genisis was bought to cannibalize, but is pretty & I wants to ride it; same with 29" Mongoose & 32" Kent KX-7. 2 blue Merdians await finishing refurbs. 7 spd trike awaits now weather rides. Etc, etc.

How do you feel about that 32 inch Kent? I was going to buy one, but I thought they were too tall for me, so I just bought a 32” wheel for a project bike.
