Hubshiners are about the cheapest mod you can do to your bike. Originally from the 50's to keep the chrome hubs shining, they add a little class to your bike.
I bought a set made with reflectors and glitter vinyl, but they can be made with different types of materials. Leather was the material they used way back when. You just needed a weight to hold it down while the hub spun, keeping it shined as you rode. A nut and bolt would work.
I used an old strap off a radio to make my hubshiners. A purse strap or old belt would work well also. Ask your wife first before cutting up an old purse. Even an abandoned purse from 10 years ago. She will ask for it as soon as you cut it up.
I prefer the leather to vinyl. I cut them to length and used a phillips screwdriver to punch holes then added the reflectors I had. Easy and cheap.
