Art, mythology, history, a little philosophy, this is the best bike forum :inlove:

It’s because we don’t stay on topic all the time. It’s the sense of freedom that makes it all so tasty.

I used to belong to a comic book forum. I collected some specific books, and they weren’t very popular ones, but they were the ones I was interested in.

Anybody who went off topic was basically edited into submission.

Here we are generally free from that with a few exceptions. (Reading this thread they are evidently fewer than I previously imagined.)

Wish I had better flicks but this was my 62 Nova SS ragtop at a party in the 90s. I neglected the cracked chassis and fixing it was beyond my scope. Knowing what it required I'm rather impressed you're taking on that kind of structural challenge.View attachment 225332

I’m really redesigning the chassis in that car. It’s one of the biggest challenges ever. I did design jigs and fixtures for two years in the 80’s

My biggest issue is not having a giant table to work on. I have to set up a temporary 5’x10’ jig from scrap steel to get the frame all square.

Otherwise it’s just a matter of getting lots more welding practice. ;)

My Favorite Trumpet: 1955 Conn 22B "Victor", raw brass, nice warmer more mellow jazz sound...
(forgive me about the nude valve picture, I got carried away...)

Immaculate! Lovely pieces. Do you play, restore, collect or make these?
I don't really consider myself "a collector". I have 5 brass instruments that are enjoyed, as often as possible. Well, at least by me.... 3 Trumpets (very different in musical approach), 1 Cornet and 1 Bugle...

I want to explore Pour Painting or Flow Art. I dabbled a bit.

Fun stuff, you kind of don't know where it's going until it gets there.

My wife does acrylic pouring. Some small scale, some large. She has a few 4' canvas in her office she's done

Yes there is some editing here. Disclosure. It is in the rules to largely remain on topic, but discretionary. However most times it is simply the OP requesting the thread be cleaned of off topic chatter

Also, where you see a moderator has edited something it's usually for another reason. Language, hyperlinks, etc......

Carry on 😉

(Sorry Captain. I was kind of yanking your chain there.)

Sooo…. These decks haven’t seen any love in a while . . . dusty skateboard gripwork:

That second skateboard I got for free, after posting a few paragraphs for a contest about skateboarding, in Skate Slate Magazine.

It was their most expensive board, complete with wheels snd S-10 trucks. This would have retailed for almost $200 plus tax and shipping.

I said some very nice things about them on the skateboard forum after that.

I can only hope to stay this active on my "third bounce". Either I'm on my first bounce or I never really matured =)
Might I suggest the free and open source Gimp.org software which I use for my own fantasy concepts. (Don't judge the frame. It's just a reference to the shape I'm looking for)

Still trying to figure out how to suspend the seat so the sissy-bar can move with the wheel. Beyond a suspension bar I was thinking multiple hinge points on the seat with the rear suspension very tight. (suggestions appreciated)
Run the seat tube off the top of the rear of the spring so the whole seat assembly is attached to the rear suspension! you may have to cut away the old seat mount off the top tube...
Or.... cut up some old suspension forks and weld them onto the rear seat post's with a swivel at the bottom, the seat will now slide up n down on the old forks when the suspension needs to! just my 2c worth!~

I hadn't thought of that first situation. Though I can't picture riding it like that because the distance to the grips will always be in flux.. like riding an aging bull I'd imagine. I can't quite envision where or what the swivel and slide would be in the second setup. Could you hit me with some descriptive images? I was also pondering @twojs.bike's Ladybug seating situation as it allows for a pivot where the seat already has one at an angle that allows movement. Maybe lose some length and cut the post just after the bend or force the seat's clamp/sleeve on closer to the bend riding the top of the bar.. but that sounds clunky.

While riding I'm always looking for interesting things to document and play with. As you might know an abundance of graffiti "art", (as opposed to scribbling ones moniker), is a beacon for developers. Destination art expands local tourism breathing popularity into warehouse districts, bringing new businesses, development and of course gentrification. Eventually all these walls will be replaced by shiny new high-rises with the shabby-chic view of a cement yard. My expectation is to collect the same locations year by year to show development or degradation of the area. Here I am trying to pedal slow and steadily through Bushwick.

Here is something I did many years ago.

Picked up a slick at Brainerd International raceway, I work at it every so often between other stuff, I took 3 rims to build a wheel the right width.

I have a few other parts made also, rear fender, connecting rods for the front, front wheel, Tail light, and a special hub for the rear with a #25 100 tooth sprocket, it will get done soon............Curt.
