Got some things done.
Dustcap for the S2C hub.
Lubricated the front wheel bearings.
Decided to paint the brake plate red, to spice it up.
Chaincover is testfitted. Its really tight.
I had to move the rear chaincover bracket to the outside of the frame because the rear sprocket is too large with the S2C hub.
Gearing was 42x19 before. Now 42x24 with the kickshift hub. This hub has a direct drive first gear and a 138% second gear.

Cant get the squar taper piece out yet.
Pedals are removed after soaking in oil for days.

Bottom bracket assembled and the right crank. Testfit of the chaincover.

Chaincover rear bracket.
I can use longer screws with nuts instead of a spacer, this way I can adjust the cover a bit, to keep it from scraping the chain or crankarm.

Thanks!

Drilled a hole through fork and brake arm. Did not feel like welding.

Took the bike outside for a overall look today.
Not the most exciting build on RRB, but happy with its looks so far!
Can't wait to overtake teens on an electric bike on this one hehe
Work continues soon.

That's going to be a great bike.

My SA hub came with a 22 tooth cog, so I'm running 39/22 on 26 x 2.125 tires. That's pretty close to your gear ratios.

Your GI are 50 and 69. Mine are 46 and 63. Very similar to a standard 3 speed's 1st and 2nd gears.

I guess that you have more hills in the Philipphines 😉

This is a great build and well worth RRB cred
Thank you!

Bell and brake lever. I am thinking about drilling speedholes in the lever.

I fixed the headlamp. Its plastic unfortunately. In my head, the idea of a thin layer of red spray was pretty cool. Just a little red glow, not trying to exaggerate.

Thinking about this one. I do not want to drill holes in it to keep it protecting the chain.
Maybe just leave it matte. Or only add the letters "Rot Oma" or ratrod.

In the meanwhile the chain is assembled and she is a rider! I have not tested it yet.

I am very happy and grateful that I am able to work a few hours (evenings) in the shed again, and work on the cycling hobby. This creating/building and cycling really gives me peace and is very meditative.

Thanks y'all!

Yeah that guard would look cool with some funky lettering, I think "Rot Oma" is a great idea! Something loose and wild, with bonkers color popping off the matte black

Yeah it's important to take care of Father too!

Wow those letters are certainly cool! That will probably be a sticker, since I cant paintbrush and paying for one will be expensive.
But ...., that looks wild! Love it.

Thanks Matti!

Granny is almost done! Biggest challenge is adjusting the chaincover without the chain scraping it.

I decided to have some fun with the brake lever too.

Had some stamped out military letters with 'ratrod' left so had some fun.

Chaincover left to do!

What is the story of your bike if I may ask? How did a Dutch Gazelle end up in Canada?

In the meantime I am having fun with fire. Professional? No, but I'm having fun!

Heat it and scrape the final pieces out.
The use a steel brush to clean the threads.

I testfitted an old worn BB bearing set and it worked!

The next job:

Rust is the best locking agent out there...
See how easy that turned out to be. Looks like the pedals might be usable if you can get them out. Your brown rim wheels look terrific. I've used the newer 90mm front brake Sturmey hub and the brake was really good. Very powerful and progressive. I tried a 2 speed Sturmey hub for a couple of years and finally got tired of it changing gears every time I hit the brakes. I still use a newer 3 speed Sturmey hub with built in drum brake. A very good product and reliable. Your project looks great so far.

Thanks guys!

The bike is as good as done. Rides great! Only the front brake is a bit weak... maybe I'll change the front wheel or brake in the future, but it is a quick bicycle!
So happy the chain is not hitting the chaincover! Smooth quiet ride.

Hi guys,
I used the bicycle to get to work. It rides really well.
On the way home after work at a traffic light something snapped...
I thought the chain was broken.
After a while I found out that the chain is ok, but the 'driver head' from the hub did not rotate.
I appears I have broken the new sprocket in half.....
Never skip leg day!

It was last week on a wet/snowy day. Luckily a friend was able to pick me up.
