Stopped by a local bike shop that I'd never gone to and started talking to the owner. I just happened to ask if he knew where I could find a cheap Peugeot frame. He pulled this from behind the building and $5 later she was headed to my garage.

You have a good point. I never went into a bike shop and asked them if they have an old Peugeot or anything else like that. It cannot hurt to ask. I never even considered going to bike shops as source for actual bikes.

When I worked in a bike shop we had a couple of bikes that came in for repairs and were not picked up.

I’ve had some luck at bike shops. Bikes just start to accumulate and it’s not worth their time or money to fix them. They need to spend their time and money on something that returns profit. Anyone reading this knows it is easy to put more into a used bike than it is worth. Never hurts to ask.

In my mind Peugeot have always been passed over or never given a second glance which is a sad thing, I know they made mostly basic bikes but with good parts and they made a few really good quality models, odd size seatposts diameter aside I would never pass on one as long as the price is right

I love them. This is my 4th. Everytime I've sold one, I've immediately regretted it. I guess I'll keep this one, since they're getting harder to find in my area (at a reasonable price)

I had a nice blueish/purpleish commuter one a long time ago, cant remember if it was 27" or 26" wheeled, tyres would have been around 35mm, it had full mudguards canti brakes shimano thumb shifters 26mm seat post which is very hard to find here, I know I have a picture somewhere of it on one of my hard drives of which I have several but thats another story, you know its a shame that when a company gets bought out by another company and keeps the brand name but churns out crap its very annoying to say the least, its like if Masi sold to walmart and walmart just relabeled all their bikes with Masi logo's, it's like what the retail company I work for bought out Milazo bikes in the 90's, they were I would say be on par with Peugeot quality basic bikes with a few road racing jems and then just used the logo on cheap Chinese bikes, again location plays a part in it though, here in NZ theres not many but surprisingly more than you would think if that makes sense, if you look you will find one relatively easy, peugeots slogan: Motion & emotion

Sorry guys, it's been a minute. This last month and a half has been crazy, dad passing away and all the mess that comes with that. I have made some progress on the Peugeot, swapped to 700c single speed and different bars. Aside from paint, I'm a set of brake cables away from making her my commuter/pub crawler
