These are all photos of one bike. I had to disassemble it to get it home from a visit to friends in Mendocino. Everything seems to be there with no cracks in the frame and only patchable rust holes in the fenders. The numbers say that this is a February 1951 bike but I have no idea if the peddles and seat are original. The tires are threadbare but still holding air. I think that this bike started out blue with white trim but was then painted red, which maybe helped protect from rust for a little while. It's about 80% rust now. Lots of pitting and no chrome. I'm hoping to learn from this forum how to best arrest the rust and preserve the patina. Santa Cruz surf culture appreciates rusty old bikes, the cheap alternative to owning a woody station wagon. Any suggestions?
