Looking great in the sun! Those red grips give that extra….

I love how much the old red on the frame pops, really plays well with the other reds on the bike. Very cool!

Thanks, I knew I had to do this color retrieval first to see what level (if any) color I would have from the frame. I'm happy with it. I planned to take the bike out today to see it out in the real world and lighting more, but didn't have time before the big thunderstorm. Once I get a better feel for how the frame color/patina is, then I'll figure out how I need to proceed with the fork next. Then the next step and so on.

Don’t forget to polish all them nipples. 😅

I was actually planning to get some tassles for those. :D
EDIT: Oh, you were talking about the grease nipples. My bad. Sorry TMI . :D

What, do you think you're some kind of polishing expert or something?

*checks Chad's resume

Oh. I see. Carry on

The lighter red Thompsons really look super bright in the photos, so I switched to the duller Thompsons . In the first Pic the brighter one is on the left. I switched them out for the duller one on the right

I like the brighter red grips. You might want to put one back on for your test in different lighting.

I am happy with how the red shows on the frame. It's subtle, but sufficient. Definitely better than before the treatment.

I like the red grips over the caramel ones. I have the darker ones on and I brought one of the brighter ones with me to do a contrast pic with.

Yep, the less bright ones have more of a vintage vibe.

When I built Faded Glory, I did a similar scrub of the frame to get the rust off,and red showed up, very much like yours. I added some more splotching of a close matched red with a natural sponge to bring out a bit more color.

Still pretty subtle.

Yeah the build looks a bit different from Day 1

I've had this replica Indian headbadge for over 10 years. I may use it on FOOLIGAN. Of course I would still need to curve it for the headtube.

Another cool option is this 3D Rat Fink badge I got a couple of years ago

No rush on those, more importantly I need to work on getting some red on the forks. It's ti.e to make them work with the bike.

Couldn't resist trying the fink antenna topper with the badge first
