I'm so pleased at seeing my grips on there. Thanks very much. Bike is killer.
The wife loved them. When I planned the switch to the 7/8 bar I ordered the smaller pair, because she said she wanted them on it. The 1" ones will get used, maybe in this year's MBBO.

With only a few laps to go, Ricky Bobby comes into the pit for a complete rear end swap out.
SHAKE AND BAKE!!!!

When the rear end is in bad shape, its no fun for anyone...

Tom you are going over the top on this one!

I guess that's better than going 'over the bars', which we both have done many times!
Thank You Lee!

And yes, it's been a few years now since I want over the bars and bounced a few times and slid down the trail to a painful stop, cracking the helmet on a rock.. (July of '19).

Over the top is way more satisfying than over the bars...

Yesterday I after work, i was able to install the new rear end and dial in 7 of 8 gears and get brakes working.

Got new shifter and brake cables made to length at the bike shop up the street and installed them.

The way I had to install it, the rear pedals came up about 2".

Still trying to find the right front tire. No LBS has 29x3s left. They all said they can order them.

Things left todo are the final Details. A few stainless bolts with acorn nuts for the sissy mount. Front tire and possibly adding a couple washers to the spacers on the fork pivot. Hard mount the batteries for the rear wheel lights. Final pics.

I really had no idea where you were going to take this build when you started. It has turned out so cool. Very nicely done!! :113:
I had no idea for sure either. Glad for the cool. 👍 I was given two requirements on this build.
  1. 3 wheels
  2. It has to look cool, not like a granny trike.
So far, I think I have met the original requirements. Just today she added one to them. It has to stop well. It stopped in 10 ft on the tst ride, so, the Brakes need adjustment for that... hehe. As a systems architect, I call that scope creep.

Tomorrow she agreed to test drive the trike after I get it braking better.

Details. 7ft4in from tip of tire to tire

Some WellGo Square bear traps. ( came off of that blue bike. )

Put a y on the lights, covered the lead coming out and mounted the battery pack so they won't fall off.

Chain is blue and brown. Always right sized if it wears of the points on the narrow...

Added a third bolt, for the just in case. To help the dropouts together where I put them.

Thanks Matti!

Love the lights!
I do too. I don't know why I haven't EL wired stuff on bikes before now.

A couple loops; 5 or so miles, and no problems except stability seems like I'm leaning to the left or right. Something to get used to, and lean into like the 80s Honda 3-wheelers.. heheh

Great pics! This one might be a contender for your top finished build photo

Ha! I had an ATC90 back in the day with aftermarket chromoly frame and rear axle and bored and stroked to the moon. It was a beast; you had to lean over the front when you dropped it in gear so you wouldn't loop out. I don't know how many times I rolled that thing. It wouldn't go at partial throttle, just WFO! Nothing wrong with the bike, my wrist just had a malfunction. I still have that thing. The motor is all stock now (I blew up the stroker decades ago) and I'm fixing it up for a buddy's son to play with on their small farm.

My friend's brother got a 200X the month they came out. That was the coolest three wheeler we'd ever seen. I was a dirt bike guy, with my old XL250, but sure envied that three wheeler. At least until any hill climbing came into the picture. Then loved the bike over the 3-wheeler. I still have that XL250 s well.

Strange coincidence! I had an XL250 as well. It was pretty ragged out but for $250 it was lots of fun. I had grown out of the ATC by then and also preferred the XL. Sold that one years ago and have had 4 more since. I don't currently have an XL250 but that could change, they are great machines.

They are great machines.

Mine cost $25. I bought it when i was fourteen. It had a broken transmission casing from throwing a chain. Dad had a couple extra parts engines in the barn that needed rebuilds, so I got a crash course in how to fix it. Had to replace the kick start gear about 20 uears ago, and a couple sets of fork seals at various times..

Old Hondas are like tractors. Just fix what's wrong and keep on chuggin' along. 👍

Those are '70s models? That vintage is collectible now. I've had '72, '79, '81, '82 and an '86. I have a 305 Scrambler I want to build up someday. Totally different beast but still Honda cool.
