The 20 tooth cogs showed up but were wrong, the inside diameter was a tiny bit too much so the cog didn't fit snugly on the hub. I tried it but there was a popping noise. To get a good ratio, I went with a 39 chain wheel and a 14 cog. That gives a 71 gear inch but should be ok, as the normal one speed is about 65. The basket is on there, using a fender brace from a fatbike fender. New handlegrips to match the seat.
Still raining all the time here so no test ride yet.

The croc material showed up. It was a big piece for 4 bucks.

I cut out both sides and glued them on. I may or may not use gold rivets around the edges tomorrow depending how it looks on the bike.

I don't have any more copper to use, but I remembered I had some steel ties.

I can paint them copper to match but it might be ok as is.

The bike is done as far as I can see with mirror and bell added. It's ready to go shopping.

One of our friends wanted to buy this bike while they visited and took a tour of my shop. Most of the time they want a bike for free and all they have to do is like a bike for me to just give it away. However, the wife handles all bike sales and she usually asks twice what they are worth, so this bike had a 300 dollar price tag on it! US dollars. She hasn't sold a bike yet. I myself don't sell anything so I'm not accused of stealing business from the locals.

So it will be here for a good while in the shop. I used more of the croc material to line the bottom of the basket. There's not much left to do except trim the fork tube down an inch.

I had to glue the croc skin to a piece of cardboard for the bottom of the basket.
It has a vintage vibe to it, so I'm going to change out the chain wheel for cottered cranks. I have a new crankset and BB. I'll need to change out the cog to a bigger 22 tooth so it isn't geared so high with a 48 tooth chain wheel.
