A buddy was encouraging me to do a build thread on my next build. Came to do so, and it looks like I'll be doing it with in the build off time line, so I figured, why not!
Yup. He did some amazing work through the years.Mert Lawwill made his mark in the mtb world as well. Here is the rear suspension he designed for the Fisher RS1, one of the very first full suspension mountain bikes. I believe it was '91 or '92. We couldn't wait to open the box when the first one arrived at the back door of Rice St Bicycle!

He also designed the Leader fork, manufactured and sold by the Control Tech company. This differed from the telescoping forks in design and the linkage and dampening allowed for a very supple and active suspension.

He did have a signature model, but these were rare. Especially anywhere but California.

1978-82. With 600 made versus 10 Breezer1 bikes, it's claimed to be the first "production" mountain bike, Breezer was too limitedWhat year would this have been?
That was really interesting. Had not known about the early frame / mtb cruiser by Lawwill. So the real question is,1978-82. With 600 made versus 10 Breezer1 bikes, it's claimed to be the first "production" mountain bike, Breezer was too limited

Downtube decals were NOS from Mert..
Nothing too crazy really. Just patience. I'd passed on a few along the way for various reasons. This particular one, I first became aware of in 2021. I missed the sale and was kicking myself. Then it popped up for sale again in 2022, and I again missed it.Sweet! I'd love to hear the details.of your amazing find!
You could have grabbed the small then pass it on to a person of appropriate sizeWow, Cove? That's cool! I had a chance to buy a Koski complete locally last year...I didn't because it was a small, but in hindsight I sure wish I would have!
