    Tweaker's Rehab - Continued

Springer Leg Bridge Really wish the first welds on this looked as good as the later ones. Took a few attempts to dial the settings in. This is the first of two cut/plug welds at the top of the springer legs. This was to reduce the ID to eventually fit a 3/8" bolt.

    Tweaker's Rehab - Continued

Springer Legs Continued The springer legs looked too wide to my eye running straight up from the rockers. I added an "S" bend using the pipe bender dies I've made previously. You can see those about halfway down this page.

Springer Legs To taper these I cut the tubing lengthwise on only one side. The tubes curved because of heat when welded. After cleaning up the welds I was able to re-straighten the legs by running them through the tubing bender.

    Tweaker's Rehab - Continued

Fork Leg Ends Last update was the start of the fork legs. This is the start of the leg ends that will connect to the front rockers. Started with a quick template. Improvised a metal brake with clamps. Took a few attempts to eventually get the bend I wanted. Shaped ends and stiffener...

    Tweaker's Rehab - Continued

This all started as a redo of a previous redo as part of RRBO16. Didn't make that deadline but you can see the earlier posts and build progress here. Time totally got away from me in trying to keep up on the build off, other's builds and, posting on my own build. Anyway, this is a bit of a...

I remembered that build but not the amount of work and effort put into tapering a lot of the tubing. Can’t not mention L’Angelo di Ferro too. Both absolutely beautiful and high water marks for scratch builds.

Fork Legs and Springs Sounds like something from off the grill? So way back in my fine art days I remember a story about how Matisse hated to have Picasso visit his studio because Picasso would always steal Matisse's ideas. Don't know if it was just a myth or was based in truth. I've always...

    Tweaker's Rehab

Thanks everyone for the feed back, it helps a lot. @GeePig you've got a good point. A little ahead of the next post but here's a mockup overview of the front fork. For bars I'm thinking something narrow that will curve forward from the tops of the fork legs and then out. Probably not enough for...

    Tweaker's Rehab

Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. Ah that hump! Actually, I kind of like the oddness of it... or maybe the idea of the oddness. In the same sense that my first pass at the wheel openings pretty much followed the radius of the tire and looked good but, I chose to push the opening...

Overview Shots with Seat I'm a little undecided with the final shaping so far. At times it looks too big and bulky to me, other times just right. Leaving it as is for now and moving on to the front end. Easier to go back and remove more foam than to add!

Padding the Seat Three quarter inch neoprene trimmed, glued to the seat pan with Super 77 adhesive, and shaped with a knife, sandpaper and belt sander.

Seat Pan Continued The bottom of the seat pan is really easy to bend out of shape. I'm pretty sure if I had a bead roller a nice bead along the center would add some much needed rigidity without adding weight. Thought I could be clever and try to get similar results with some doctored vice...

Seat Pan New template, more 20 ga sheet, some cutoff wheel and flap disc work and, a bit of bending. Seat Profile I needed to determine a better approximation of the seat profile so I could build up the seat pan. I'll be using 3/4" neoprene for the seat cushion. Using the seat profile...

Fender Skirts Continued Still some additional finessing around the wheel openings, some smoothing, and edge fill/rounding needed but, I'm pretty excited with the results so far.

    Tweaker's Rehab

Fender Skirts I've been waiting to sink my teeth into these forever. Finally getting the chance. Started by refining the template. Traced the template onto 20 ga sheet and cut the pieces out with a cutoff wheel and refined the shape with a flap disc. The time messing with the template...

Rear Light This is why I have a hard time throwing stuff out! A left over 3" dia tube piece in my cut-offs bin caught my attention. A few cuts and now it's the start for a rear light.

Sissy Bar Fix This only hurt when I looked at it! The non-drive side of the sissy bar kicked out further than the drive side. Should have taken a closer look before welding it up solid. Required some cut and re-weld. During surgery. Before on the left. You can see the difference here, it was...
