Great project and those toy and parts cabinets are fun! I’m in a similar boat as you, I was going to do something with the DX anyway, so might as well hang out with friends and see what they’re up to.

    Schwindecisive

I love the name of your build. The squirrel will attest that indecision kills :) Too many good concepts, as you have here, will lead to Schwinndecision. I'm always a sucker for a good checker pattern .... probably from being a Cheap Trick fan as a kid.

Two-person job. My friend Dyno Dan, who I get together with on Wednesday nights and tinker on bikes with, is an excellent free-hand pin striper. We also have the Beugler brand pin striper. What we did on my 42 Elgin fenders was he held the Beugler and I took a deep breath and spun them manually. .

This thread is moving at a snail's pace. Started painting the hoops and am going to try and mix in some aging tips that @OddJob so graciously shared . The basecoat is gloss burgundy with satin colonial red phased in with some different shades of brown misted in around the edges. Next will do the...

Nothing too exciting to report. Donor rims are stripped, hubs disassembled and cleaned, spokes wire wheeled.

1962 Murray Fleetline. Not the correct tank but a nice placeholder. Before mild resto and polish. Tank was formerly a Hiawatha tank.

    TRADITIONAL Iron & Oxygen

While it may not look like much progress, I had a busy weekend. I picked up a pretty clean 41 ladies bike at Monroe last Sunday. Finally went to get it Thursday night and spent Saturday harvesting the parts from it and putting new whitewalls on the wife’s 52 BF Goodrich badged Co-Ed. So it...

    TRADITIONAL Iron & Oxygen

Well, Memory Lane and Monroe swaps came and went and no prewar DX fenders were found 😕 I did pick up two cool Elgins and a third Elgin lady donor bike. Tonight the lady prewar Schwinn gave all she had to give. Hoping to get the wheels stripped down for a refinish and rebuild. Fender braces and...

Thanks. Not much going on yet. Still on the hunt for some prewar DX fenders. If I don’t score some soon I may change direction away from ratty. It may be easier to accomplish.

Hey! Are you going to use that seatpost mounting area of that Elgin frame?

Thanks. I'm going to redo the word AND in the logo. Now that I see it small it disappears.

Got to meet him and Nick. Picked up a few goodies from him, like this cool big eye tank. Might try it on for size on the Fleetline

Thanks brother. I appreciate you. I'm pretty sure my friend has since sold that bike.

To those that read my post in the discussion - some of this will be redundant. In March, I drove an hour and a half north to a farm in Manistee, Michigan where there was a "buy all or nothing" sale of bikes and parts of varying decay. I came home with a van-full, but the one I was after was a...
