Wow! The paint scheme looks great! And 38 is the size I was running on this so hopefully these 38s measure out the same as the ones I had on it. 😆

And more decals. I went with the earlier style head tube decal as it has more white in it, which seems appropriate for a bike that has white accents.

Welcome to the forum! From the dropouts it looks to be post war to me, but I'm not too familiar with these models. Some of the other guys are though. Great bike!

Next question. Can I use regular 3% peroxide from the drug store to whiten plastic? We don't have a salon close by. Also, has anyone had issues with peroxide damaging chrome?

Thanks! I am pretty happy with it. Now I just have to try to keep it nice during assembly.

Bad pics but the decals look great, this is a custom design that @CRASH did for a previous build. Good stuff

It may not be real easy to see in the pics but the paint is super sparkly. It looks terrific. It was a ton of work but I’m impressed with the way it turned out. Very happy with this paint job.

I think all three options could work fine but color matching sounds cool.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be lost over there for a while. 🤣

From the Sheldon Brown website: This is why I'm going to switch to 700c tubless, also from Sheldon Brown: I put a 27" wheel in the forks yesterday and the brake pads were halfway below the rim edge, to the inside of the wheel. So the tubulars on this bike are a few millimeters smaller...

I think it was worth the drive. These can be hard to find on this side of the pond for a decent price. The one I was looking at was 5 hours away, and not a particularly nice drive. So I think you did great on picking this one up. Have fun with it!

Unbound 200 on Walmart cruisers (video)

I saw that one pop up yesterday but haven't had time to watch it. I'll get to it though, looks like fun! 👍

Great score! I missed one a few weeks ago that was cheap. I put it off for a few weeks as it was such a long drive and, of course, it got sold. Are you planning to restore this one?

    I'm all done!

Bring it, that will be fun!

I wondered about that. I've been researching tubulars and they are referred to as 28" which is typically 700c. That's really good to know, thanks for chiming in. 👍 Isn't it weird that 700c is referred to as 28" when it's actually a bit smaller than a 27" wheel? Bike wheel sizes are so...

Yeah, I might have to do that. I'd stick with 27" but tire choices are so much better for 700c

I've been doing some research on tubular tires and I think for riding my local roads and maybe doing some trips I'd be better off rebuilding these wheels with 700c rims and go tubeless. Changing a tubular tire to repair a flat while on a ride sounds like a major pain.

Navy with a civilian twist? Seems perfect for a campus bike :cool2:

    ** The next build off 2024 **

This is a really cool idea. We should try to do this at least once to see how it goes. 👍

    28 dollar cromoly frame?

I like the wild curves on those frames. It will be cool to see what you build them into.
