Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Its offically the weekend and I have some progress to post! I stayed up entirely too late to get this done, but you guys know how it is. Once you start there is no stopping till its done! Masking this piece took a shade over three hours then of course painting and...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Its been a crazy at work and with a few commissions I havnt had much time to work on the bike. But thats fine, I wanted to let the yellow harden up a bit before I masked for the black. I should have some progress to post this weekend ...I hope!

    First build up....ever

I dont suppose you have any pics of that toyota frame before you chopped it up? I've been thinking about using one for a hot rod project (helps with the paperwork to get it legal) but I can never find a full frame picture. You definitely know your way around a welder, I cant wait to see what...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Its no fun without at least a smidge of "crash'n'burn" I'll keep it to a minimum, I promise. With a lot of sweet talking and a shiny new battery camera is back up and running! Unfortunately it missed the primer phase so you guys will just have to deal with these...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Primer is drying on the fenders and tank as we speak, unfortunately my camera is refusing to work... maybe it will start cooperating again soon? I also hammered in the new BB cups, making the frame fully ready to be assembled! I could have it rideable while I do the...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Unfortunately the wave is there because I had to narrow up the fender to fit it inside the frame. Kinda wish I had started with a ballooner frame instead of a middleweight frame ...but hindsight is something, something...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Last mockup before [more] paint flies! The frame paint is still soft so I had to be extra careful with it, i just couldnt put this off any longer. I know the wave in the fenders is going to bug me but there is no other solution. I managed to get both fender tips 9" to...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike I stole away to the garage for a few minutes tonight only to find the frame paint still fairly soft. I'm guessing it will take a week or more for it to fully cure, but these few 80 degree days coming up will certainly help! I really needed to get the forks mocked up so...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike The epic saga continues! Yes, I totally jinxed this project a couple posts ago... Shortly after the successful speedometer project the rest of my parts arrived and exactly None of them fit as expected. Most of the trouble is my frame is too new for "baloon cruiser"...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike And since I know everyone wants to know, the tach/speedo really does work! and its fairly accurate too! I mistakenly set the needle a smidge too high so it will be a little off but Just multiply the big number by two and thats how fast you are going!

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike The frame is fully stripped and in primer, it will be in paint later tonight. I used a piece of scrap aluminum to make the "tank", unfortuantely its a bit too thin and flimsy for my taste. I'll have to go out and get some steel tomorrow. The chainguard only needed a...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Last one for today, I'll be out in the garage persuading metal for a while. Sorry to keep boring you guys with endless drawings, the paint Should start flying this weekend ...if the parts arrive on time.

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike This drawing is essentially finished, I mostly wanted to get the tins in proportion and place the scallops more accurately. I am really liking this drawing, so much in fact that I'll make copies to color and use the original for my portfolio. Next update should be in...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike Definitely! My Gee Bee is gonna need some company. I actually like the colors he picked, I didnt think I would at first but it looks nice. iirc one of the early sportsters was painted in those colors. Still waiting on parts before I can get to the painting but I've...

Gee Bee Tribute Bike *Update 3/15*

Re: Gee Bee Tribute Bike For some reason it seems natural to build a bike inspired by airplanes, I'm not entirely sure why... After working on this for a while I seem to have an excess of ideas, I just might have to build another one! Second round of parts started arriving today and to kill...

    Ebay Springer Question

I just picked up a schwinn style no-name springer off ebay, which I am praying is of decent quality (says made in Taiwan). Do you guys know if all these no-name springers are generally the same dimensions as an original springer? I'm trying to get some parts ordered for it before the thing...
