    24" Monark Build

Re: Custom Monark Build So I've been searching for a solution to the fork problem and since I cant seen to figure out what has it stuck, I'll be hacking it apart next week. I'm going to cut on the bottom side of the steer tube with the hope that I can maybe save the neck. The forks are toast so...

    24" Monark Build

Re: Custom Monark Build Its been a while but I'm back to tinkering with the Monark. Got a nice black seat for free from a buddy who got a new one for his schwinn. Its a bit rough around the edges but looks good on the bike. After soaking in pb all winter I finally got the seat post loose, so I...

    Fork Straightening?

I talked to the LBS today and they wont straighten the fork because they are afraid it will be weaker, liability something, something, etc... but they would gladly sell me a shiny new fork that totally wouldnt match the bike! idk if I even want to bother straightening it, doesnt seem to effect...

    Fork Straightening?

Hey guys, I have a little problem.. The forks on my Monark are bent a smidge. Looks like someone ran into something pretty hard, the front wheel is a replacement so it makes sense. I hope the pic is clear enough to show the damage. The bend is only about five degrees so I'm wondering if its...

DANGER PLEASE READ ABOUT MONARCH SPRINGER FORK

I have been considering this fork for my custom monark but so far the only good thing I've read about them is they look pretty. This greatly worries me since I am building this bike to ride, and if its just going to fall apart then what's the point? Crossbow's website has a Serious lack...

    24" Monark Build

Re: Custom Monark Build Here are some better pics of the rear rack. The front of the rack bolts onto the seat clamp no problem, the rear struts are the problem. If you try bolting to the fender brace mount on the dropout the rack brace has to cross over the fender brace which forces it outward...

    24" Monark Build

Re: Custom Monark Build I'll tinker with the rack a bit today to see if I can make it work, I'll let you know how it works out. I got up much earlier than normal today and went for a ride with my Mom. Nothing major, just a lap around the block and stopped by my old school. It was a lot of fun...

Cool, I'm not the only one in the area! I was starting to get worried :( Ok, not really  I dont watch Craigslist very closely so feel free to snatch up deals from under me, if you do it fast enough I wont even notice! lol I've been getting lost in all the pictures the last few days...

    24" Monark Build

Re: Custom Monark Build I like the graphics but since I'm going to repaint I figure its a good time to mix it up a bit. I'll probably keep the graphics, unless I can come up with something between now and the paint job. Which is going to be Red, white and black ..like the tank. Heres a close...

    24" Monark Build

This is my first bike in about 10 years and my first time modifying one so the learning curve on this will be pretty steep. I'm planning to take most of the winter to get this done so dont expect lightning fast progress, but you can expect an annoying amount of pictures! ...and probably some...

    Greetings from Michigan

I'm south east of Grand Rapids, about 15min drive to anything useful. It makes riding interesting because sidewalks are rare and drivers just dont pay attention. ...but a nice open country road on a nice day is just amazing! Are there any meets in the area? I'd love to see in person...

    HOW TO LACE A WHEEL

I've been reading up on wheel building and truing the last couple of days because I noticed a wicked warp in my rear rim and a few loose spokes. Since all the nipples seem to be rusted solid to the spokes, I'm just going to cut it apart and replace the spokes and rim. The big issue I'm having is...

    Greetings from Michigan

Hey everyone, I decided to sign up for the forum since I've recently gotten back into bikes! Away for about 10 years, this last week has been a serious crash course in everything cycling. Saturday a coworker brought in her bike and after taking a spin I was hooked. Sunday I found an intriguing...
