Thanks OJ! I will check out your build thread, it's a very cool bike. I'm going to use the red over silver metallic base, and maybe a clear coat. I've seen a few videos where people have had some great results with it. I'll be testing it before I paint the bike, of course. I may even try it...

So I think this project is a go. I just picked up this ‘51 Raleigh Sports project for $50. I think I’m going to use my better parts to ‘restore’ this one and use the other parts to build the step thru project. Should be fun. 👍

In the middle of all that, UPS showed up with an interesting package. Yes!! My custom made sissy bar is here, undamaged and gorgeous

Made a little progress today. I trimmed the fork tubes to the same height. Then I checked frame alignment with the string. It was off to the right about 6mm so I broke out my special tool and nudged it back over.

I came across this for sale local-ish. I'm thinking '83-'84 on this? My parents gave me one of these for my birthday back then, brand new from Kmart. It was my first mountain bike and with 10 speeds my 1st multi-gear bike. Very heavy, not terribly good quality. I think I bent or broke most...

I'm really liking this option right now. I've got some silver metallic and Metalcast red on the way. Hopefully it will have a candy red look without too much wet sanding.
