I've make some faux-tanks for a few of the custom frames I've made:

Custom Cruisers in Zwolle, Netherlands. It's owned by a friend of mine, Karim de Vries. He carries all the cool parts, and definitely has the wheelsets you're talking about.

When I was in Scotland, their museum had this plastic bike from the 60s, I believe. It's been a few years, but I think it was from Norway or Sweden. It was hung up high, but this was the best pic I could get.

It was indeed a real horse saddle of some type. I always got different experts telling me what kind, never the same answer. Kid's saddle. A slim type of jumping saddle. Who knows, but I still have it on a shelf to use again in the future.

Here's one that I was never super happy with, but the idea was to make a place to put a bunch of the cool stickers I'd collected over the years.

I was hoping more people would chime in with their faux-tanks, but oh well. Here's another of mine, on a custom strider bike for my grandson:

The next faux-tank I made wasn't until much later, on the 36" cruiser from 2016.

That's why I couldn't find one! I knew we had something. I'm pretty sure I've added to that thread. While "homemade" and "faux" have a lot of overlap, they are not exactly the same, so I'll leave this thread going.

Looks like there's no thread for faux tanks! There have been some good ones on this site over the years, so post them up here. Whether it's to show off your awesome work, or just as inspiration, they're good fun. A note on what makes a tank on a bike a "faux tank": that would be a flat, 2D...

I followed most of what you were saying, but while I haven't Goggled anything to verify, I'll say that I suspect you're throwing some Österreich dialectal words in there, which threw me off. Isn? I deduce from context that's a contraction of "ist" and "ein." I'll have to remember that one. Ich...

I've already submitted my final pics, so I'll add these here. I was able to get a pair of folding apes from a 60s or 70s Portacycle, and this has improved the comfort immensely.
