    Ratrod bicycle trailer and soapbox

Ah, it is a bit later now, but for good steering at the front you need to choose your camber angle, castor angle and kingpin inclination (KPI). You might find the steering a little heavy without a good bit of KPI as you will be forcing the wheel to move in an arc rather than almost pivoting on...

    Murrarium

I think another tire like you have on the rear would be good, it will make the front look lighter.

    Bikes from obscure brands.

Most of the bikes I own are rare, and yet at the same time they are as common as could be. The majority of my bikes are Romet designs, the big Polish bicycle company of the Communist era that collapsed gradually during the 1990s and early 2000s, until the remains were bought up by a newer...

    Mostly Garbage Day Eve Finds

Well it is possible to decide which bikes you really want to ride, and keep the rest as parts. I have a total of five bikes built up to ride: two in the city and three in the countryside, plus another two bikes to sell next spring. All the rest are broken down into spare parts. Here are two of...

Those are two beautiful designs, and once I get a welder and some old moped frame...

    BIKES FROM POLAND

This one has one of those special 'throttle boxes' that presumably make a noise when you rotate the right hand grip - I saw an identical one on someone's build here the other week. Ah, if only I was a bike collector rather than an odd-model accumulator....

I would like to see more modern bikes with rear suspension converted somehow. Oh look, it was what I was working on ;)

    BIKES FROM POLAND

I am thinking about getting a kids bike, most of the ones I see here are modern cheap ones from the Far East, but I would like some Romet as well. There is a very nice one, a Romet Bolek, for 320 zl on Allegro at the moment...

    BIKES FROM POLAND

This is a Romet Laura, but it is a bit of a puzzle. Usually these were 5 speed derailleur machines, with some from the 1980s or maybe late 1970s have a 3 or maybe 5 speed hub - but this one appears to have a coaster brake. I cannot imagine why they would want to make this a coaster brake bike...

    My cranky little problem

Here are both of my stored 2-piece Romet cranks, and both have damaged inner bearings, which are a snug fit. The crank on the right is off my unknown model of Romet, right after stripping the bike down, where all the bearings except the coaster brake were damaged. Well, the bike was given to...

    Duck Norris, The Sixties Thing

Evolving is a good thing, it is not like we are producing a series of identical bikes every year, like a manufacturer.

Ah well, but I would have voted for it, without a doubt.

    My cranky little problem

I am in the middle of a difficult problem that effects most of my bikes, because most of them are old Romets, the make of bike that almost everyone who was going to ride a bike in communist Poland would have to ride. The company, created from some prewar bicycle companies in the late 1940s...

    THE RICKPAULOS COLLECTION

If you look at the '25th Anniversary' sticker it says '1974' on the left and presumably '1999' on the other.

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Ha ha, yes, no loss if it does not go right. Unlike a pressed steel tank it is just wire, so each piece is essentially separate.

Those baskets bend back into shape quite easily with a hammer, an anvil or a big vice, some care and a little time. Even cleaning one up when it is a little rusty is less bother than you would think.

    Truing Meridian Trike Drive Wheel

When I was about 4 years old I used to corner my trike on two wheels. No one told me how to corner fast, not one told me about any damage I might be doing to my secondhand trike, I just used to lean in and let the outer wheel come up. I couldn't ride a two-wheeled bike, because I did not have...
