    What are you listening to?

Don’t forget the original. When I was a kid in the 1950s a friend had this 78 record at his family fishing cabin. We would wind up the Victrola, it was our favorite.

Fork springs are shot. I welded up some mounts and used a Wizzer spring instead of the originals.

    What are you listening to?

Henry Thomas, 1920s, Bulldoze Blues. Canned Heat ripped him off note for note. Instead of being pushed around (bulldozed) Canned Heat changed Henry’s trip to Memphis to going to Canada to avoid the draft.

    Rollfast headset issues.

No room for a lathe at home. I don’t have room for a welding table. I got rid of my table saw and plainer when we moved into our cabin. I kept a bench top drill press. It’s 120 miles to the machine shop and they are extremely expensive. It would cost me at least $200 to have what you suggest...

    Rollfast headset issues.

This is a fairly common problem. I also have a box of old headsets and sometimes nothing fits. There is a lot of meat in most vintage 32.9 head tubes and I have used my reamer to take it out to 34 and used a 1 1/8 fork. I did this once. I have also tack welded slightly loose head set cups in...

Phosphoric acid removes paint that had long time exposure to moisture. Areas that were protected from moisture are still there. Phosphoric acid won’t remove good paint.

I’m going to call my forge brazing experiment a semi success. I cleaned up the flux so I could see the result. The brass melted into the joint enough. Looks like carp but it did the job.

Yes, that’s the color. This occurred several times about 8 years ago so no pictures. Others don’t seem to have this problem. Some acids give me a yellow, unremovable rust. It’s been years ago so I don’t remember what acid caused the yellow. I tried several times and always got the yellow or...

Oxalic acid and citric acid makes permanent green non removable rust for me. It might be chromium in the steel and minerals in my well water causing a witches brew.

Phosphoric acid rust buster soak is started. 20/1 dilution. It’s bubbling slowly. I can use the solution again, all I have to do is decant It into gallon jugs.

I’m attempting to vibrate off the glass like brazing flux. Hot water and acid doesn’t touch it. I used Shoo Goo and duct tape to secure the sander and put my rust soak next to it when the sander vibrated itself off. The rust soak is also vibrating like crazy. If it doesn’t work on the flux I bet...

I’ll try and post this for the 4th time, see if it gets shown. 1 inch bars, 7/8 brake lever clamp. Flatten both sides to make a one inch radius, squeeze the ends together with vice grips and a bench vice and use the shaft of a medium sized Phillips Head Screwdriver to align the bolt holes...

My last post didn’t show up. It looked like it posted I saw it, now it’s gone. Took me 1/2 hour to post it as it would vanish before I could post. Then I had to do it again, three times. Sorry it’s not worth it.
