When I get going on one of these builds, the order of operations is somewhat routine, but sometimes I jump around to different parts of the bike with a flurry of creative inventiveness. I messed around with the shifter knob earlier, and I decided to revisit it when I found a random box of old...

Okay, this might jump around a bit, but I'm covering 3 things in this post. I had to figure out the caps for the frame, fenders, and the addition of the overload tube!!! Muahahahaha.... There are two style of AMF frames that have the metal caps in the frame with the mutli-coloured peace sign...

    CCM CHALLENGER

I had a lot of fun building this one. I figured since CCM build a CHARGER model, why not build a CHALLENGER on the same frame. It ended up being a way different bike than I envisioned at the start, but I'm really happy with the way it turned out. ENjoy!

    CCM CHALLENGER

Time to put this one across the finish line. The decals I designed showed up in the mail. Just too bad they didn't get here when I had the bike out in the sun for the photoshoot. We're covered in snow here now, so I'm going to have to get creative with my other build. And.... if I can get a...

Collector looking to buy or trade for muscle bike shifters. Whatchya got??

Thanks man, I think I have one of those, but I think you're a little high on the asking. I think the high end on one of those would be $40 on a good day, but you never know.

After the wheelie bar was complete, all I really had left to do was add brakes, cables, levers, kick stand, shifter and decals. This part isn't a huge amount of work, but I always take my time running my cables and getting things the right length. I hate it when I see a cool bike with cables...

I usually leave the decals until the very end of a build, but as soon as I got the chain guard installed I was pumped to design what would go on it. I had a long list of possible names for the bike. Everything from Red Rider, Red Devil, Red Raider, Cherry Blaster, Red Baron, Crimson Clipper and...

Collector looking to buy or trade for muscle bike shifters. Whatchya got??

Hey guys, I'm addicted to building bikes and collecting parts. I love NOS, but I also like restoring old 60's and 70's shifters. Let me know if you have anything for sale or trade. I do reproductions of many common shifter handles. I might even have something you need.

I kinda took a quick detour after I had the seat and sissy bar chosen. Part of the reason I chose the sissy bar was because it had the perfect shape arc at the top for this NOS MacGregor sissy bar pad I had. The sparkle red is a really good match with the seat. This is the first time I've put a...

    CCM CHALLENGER

I spent a lot of time farting around with different sissy bars and configurations to get the wheelie bar just right. I was so into it, that I didn't take pics of all of the different setups. In the end, I feel like the bars I had on hand were destined to unite to create this wheelie bar. Kind of...

The white seat was definitely a front runner for a while. It's a brooks saddle commonly found on Raleigh models like the Fireball, the Rodeo, or the Sprint. Back in the cabinet for now, like a kitten at the humane society.

I got a lot done over the Christmas holidays. When I finished my first build I got right into the next one. Again, I should have had some of the clean-up on small parts completed while I was waiting for paint, but I guess I was busy with other stuff. The pie plate guard on this was a little...

    CCM CHALLENGER

Once I got the wheels built, this build came together quite nicely, but again, it didn't follow the path that I intended. This involved lots of trial and error with lots of different seats and sissy bars and handle bars. Luckily I've been collecting all of these random parts over the years that...

Is it in good shape?? LOL . Mine isn't too bad. I've been knocking it back into shape for the last hour.

This is my second entry in the build off. I'm nearly finished my other bike (CCM CHALLENGER), and I think I have time to squeeze this one in over the holidays and the month long lockdown we're in up here in Ontario Canada. Most of the build off I was waiting patiently for my frames to come back...

    Was the completion date changed?

I say move it to Feb 1st. No one is going to complain about extra time. This is a friendly build off and if more bikes are completed, it helps generate interest for future build offs. 3 or 4 years ago I won first in class 1 of the MBBO. There were 7 completed entries.... Lots of build threads...

    MBBO/BMXBO 2020-2021 RULES - READ FIRST!!!

Is it just me, or was anyone thinking that the build off deadline was the end of January??? So many good builds may be running out of time. I'm sure COVID hasn't helped. Locked down where I am. It was so hard to get a simple bolt for my sissy bar the other day..... I guess I just remember...

    CCM CHALLENGER

Started building my wheels the other night. I ended up going a different route than initially planned. I was thinking of making a straight 24" racing style muscle bike by utilizing the 5 speed wheel set from this 24" Japanese road bike. When I got the frame back and saw the purple, I just felt...

    CCM CHALLENGER

Back in business. Finally got my two frames back from powder coat!! THE PURPLE IS KILLER!!! Can't wait to start piecing these bikes together over the holiday. Santa came early for me. Stay tuned for a second build thread for the red frame.
