    1968 Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2

I had 3 bikes planned for this 4 month build off, but my powder coat guy injured his hand and couldn't complete all of my frames. Ultimately I had to give all of my love and attention to this old 3 speed Fireball. First order of business was to upgrade it to a 5 speed to make use of some rare...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Well, I decided on the black seat for a couple of reasons. I like the look of it, and the other seat is earmarked for another bike. Had the chance to spruce it up a little for the final bike. I got some white vinyl spray paint to clean up the racing stripes, and some Hi-build black for the under...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Thanks guys. I do like the seat, but I kinda bought it for another bike. I'll let it sit there for now. I have some time to think about it. Just missed a fireball fender on Ebay. It would have been an upgrade as it had the correct bracket attached and it was in really nice shape. I saw the...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Still experimenting with seats. I bought this mesinger seat on ebay. It actually showed up looking much nicer than the pictures in the listing. I would say it's NOS, but I imagine it's supposed to be white and has yellowed with age. I'm not sure. Great seat though and I got it cheap. I like how...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Oddjob, I kind of agree with you and appreciate your input. I'm actually considering going back to the other style of twinshift, even though I've been wanting to use the woody shifter on a bike for a while. If I stay with the black seat, I might touch it up and repaint the white stripes. I'll...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

I'm sure you all have those builds that come to a stall because you're waiting for a specific part. That part for me has been the seat. I've had a vision for this bike that includes a white seat. I don't have a white seat yet. I've been meaning to get some vinyl to re-wrap the original seat, but...

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

I kind of stalled on this build. Too busy at work and with the little one. She's 2 and a half!! She loves riding her strider bike out in the shop and then occasionally we turn the place into dance party zone. Anyway, I'm trying to make a decision on the seat. I've spotted a few NOS ones on ebay...

    Murray Missile ( Class 2 )

Yes, I'm glad to see you're putting them to good use!! They cleaned up nicely!! Should have kept them :)

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Looks like I'll be focusing on this build alone for the time being. I got a text from my powder coat guy Dale. He's hurt his arm and will be out a couple months minimum. I told him to heal up, bikes can wait. I didn't press him for details. He was having a hard time texting with one hand. So...

This diagram outlines the shifting pattern. The right side of the hub has a typical 3 speed indicator chain. The left side of the hub uses a bell crank that is also seen in the diagram. Lots of these shifters on Aussie bikes and Choppers in the UK. I've seen NOS bell cranks sell for $150+ on ebay.

    Raleigh Fireball 3 + 2 - Class 1

Okay gents, this is hopefully the first of many entries. I have several bikes at the the powder coater, and this is the first one on the stand. I got this a while back and even picked up a donor bike this spring. One is a Raleigh Fireball and the other is the equivalent Canadian version, the...

    1969 Eaton's Fastback 100 3 Speed

Nice bike. You know... I definitely kept it, but god knows where it is since I renovated my garage and moved all of my boxes and tool boxes. I'll keep you posted. Where are you located?

'Skin Deep' Ironing out a stretch. DONE!

I'm glad to see that this works, so that I can eventually get around to using some of these things I found online. So much great building going on here, and not enough time for me yet to really build what I want. I will keep watching though!
