Thanks! Yeah, I was at it for half an hour before I ran out of gas and I'm less than half done

Well crud! I ran out of gas. And I was at the freaking welding supply store today and didn't check the tank before I left home first

Those are going to be some thick hips!Good thing I double checked the wheel's axle spacing. I was going off the wrong measurement and would have made the rear end too wide😉

Got one side tacked in place. Should have plenty of tire clearance. This will make the whole rear end almost 9 inches wide. Like Freddy Mercury said "fat bottom girls make the world go round"

Pictures are hard to convey what I'm trying to do, so here's a video

I ended up making the cuts 1" apart, and about 3/4 of the way through the tubingIt's a very subtle effect that's hard to capture on camera, but totally worth the effort

They've got the right shape in two of the three axis I want. Going to make a few cuts on the top side so I can tie them into the nice flowing mid tube

Starting this morning off light with some rolls Going to make 4 of these out of some scrap off cuts as kickers to wrap around the rear wheel

Wanted to get the rear end started today, but can't. Hoping my head doesn't hurt as bad tomorrow. Hoping everyone else has a good night

Speed holes make everything better. I also made a mid tube that will help tie in the rear section

Taking *another* break. I've had a migraine since 10 am, and it just started to go away an hour ago. I got a bunch of stuff done earlier, but it's slow going now. Can't move too fast or it feels like a knife is being twisted in my head

    The Rustacean

If you're using either a flux core or MIG welder, you can make really attractive welds by doing short bursts, essentially stitching the weld seam together and creating something close to the mythical "Stacked Dimes" weld

    Stray Kat's Ride

No pain, no gain. I also made a blood sacrifice for my build

    The Rustacean

Don't know how it would go with your vision, but some fine mesh attached to the inside of your new BB plates might look really good

Couldn't help myself, so I threw the rims roughly in place and grabbed the tape measure. It should end up right around 10 feet (or 300cm) long

Dang, you're gunning hard for that Thompson Classic award! Looks pretty good to boot.

Making progress, and a confession. As you can see from the forks, I've put some thought into this project. The base design of this build is something I've been working on for over two years. I even started building another frame, but I was never happy with it. The last pic is where I was at as...

I've been more busy this last week with building equipment than my bike frame. Built a welding cart, bench grinder stand, a portable vice/hammer forming stand, a grinding wheel stand, and an easy access stand for my grinding wheels. Starting out today with a shop cleanup, then I'll get back to...
