Squeamish alert: Don't sawzall when you're tired folks. I'm lucky this is all that happened. The blade started to bind up, so I released the trigger. It kicked out of the groove, rode up the cut and punched my thumb with the tip of the blade just before it stopped. Maybe I should fix my metal...

Tire and tube ordered. It's tough finding tires that match when they're different sizes, but these should be darned close. Front tire is going to be a 26x2.5, rear is a 26x4. Both tires should be stretched in similar fashion when mounted. Now I've got to get cracking on getting the wheels laced...

Maybe those demons needed more blood after all, lol. I've now been cut, burned, shocked, and stabbed by this project. I'm kinda feeling like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. But I will be triumphant.

If anyone was wondering, a sawzall blade through the thumbnail does not feel good. Gonna call it a night

Thanks! I've been thinking about this project for over two years, and the pieces are finally falling into place. Feels really good to finally scratch the itch

Now that the bottom bracket is in place, I can start on the bottom part of the frame. There's just enough light left to see what it'll look like. I also switched out the front wheel. Although I wanted to use the 100mm rim, the rim profile didn't match the rear. This one is 80mm, and is truer to...

Picture time, cause I got updates. Made a box shell with some 1/8" plate steel for the bottom bracket, notched the shell to fit the tubing, then burned it all together. I used a brand new super high tech, ultra precision chain-line alignment device (aka, a length of 3/4" tubing) to align the...

Measuring up for bottom bracket shell width and chain clearance. Glad I specced the spindle a touch wider, because I need every inch of it

Grind, fill, grind, blend, smooth. This is going to be my life for the next few days.

I could just do a quick grind, slather it in Bondo, and call it good. I could. But I won't. One part is blended up to 120 grit and ready for primer.

The scribblings of a madman translated into chromoly steel. Huge shout-out to my buddy Scott for making this happen

My co worker said it took 45 lines of programming to design the spindle, and it'll take about an hour or so to cut it. I think he deserves more than just a beer

They (the weather people, not the voices in my head) keep saying this summer is going to be a hot dry one. I've been looking for a big shop fan for a while now when I stumbled across this chicken coop fan at a yard sale for $5. It got up to 84 degrees here today, so I decided to stop slacking...

Holey smokes, just realized I made it to page 8! I don't think my last three build off attempts combined made 8 pages of content

My co worker showed me the two prototype spindles for my pedal assembly today and I've got to say he's killing it! The spindle alone is 235mm wide. Can't wait to throw that bad boy in the frame and get cooking with the tire pile!

Lots of work still to be done. Thinking about doing a subtle waisting effect on the bottom trail dragger bars. They would be the only long straight metal piece on the whole bike if I left it as is
