    DIY Duck Tail Fender

Why tell them? If they ask, say it's for a motorcycle.

To be fair, you're never going to grip it by the center while riding. That length is just fine. BTW, that young lady's interests have moved on from cool bikes. NOW, she digs wheelchairs!

The company claims otherwise and I'd be surprised to learn Evapo-rust has a detrimental effect on non-ferrous metals. Surely this shoe is not steel--as a brake part, it really should have been. Weight-saving gone overboard.

I bet that's cast zinc. The melting point is pretty low.

Seat / Saddle Gallery - Post Pics Here

Yeah, I got one of those ADGA saddles as part of a Fuji Folder deal I picked up a few years back. Probably the most valuable part of the bike, actually. They were very common on Peugeot UO-8s in the '70s.

I couldn't help but question out loud if a process like Retrobrite (i.e. hydrogen peroxide + UV light) might artificially age some of the NOS wrap you have now. I doubt anyone's tried it before, so the outcome is a complete mystery at the moment.

I really wouldn't have a problem with the 'butterscotch,' but TRM has his vision.

Hard to believe it's the same bike you started with. Personally, I'd leave the chain guard off, but I realize that's all part of the image.

Apparently, there is a tool for this task, provided you have a spare NINETY DOLLARS creating an unsightly bulge in your wallet.

Something like this maybe? I think the existing fasteners are M6, but don't quote me on that.

How much extra room do you need? Is it possible to run a spacer between the pad and the caliper surface?

So, what's your plan for cabling the doubles?

That's just bizarre. I would have chosen the worst of the races, then ground flats on opposite sides to accept the wrench--your approach achieves the same end. Just keep the modified locknut as your future at-home thread chaser. I wonder if the internal threads of the race are messed up. If...

One would think so. But remember, the 'new' threads conform to the die, not necessarily to the cone you're using. Even with the correct thread pitch, there could be very subtle differences in manufacturing precision. I suspect that the new threads stand a little proud of the existing ones...

Boneshaker - Rideable Bicycle Replicas 48" Boneshaker

Good eye! Also looks like the 'dish' is way off, but might be a photographic illusion. The spoke angle appears much steeper on the right side, compared to the left.

Anyone know what this bike is?

Yeah, the dropout spurs are a dead giveaway. To be honest, the Hollywood is almost certainly the better bike. I don't know your market, but I'd probably buy them, then clean, service, and flip the Schwinn to get my money back.
