I've managed to even fit 2.35 in, but 2.125 fits best.
Here the front tire is 26x2.35 Project 346 Balloon
Here it sits on a set of modern Schwinn Typhoon Cords, 26x2.125.
Sacrificed another few hours of my sleep since i got too excited working on that bike today :)
Started to polish the rear fender while it is still mounted on the bike so i holds itself steady. I am going to finish it once i take it off, not intending to achieve a mirror finish from them but just...
Here is another example of how we fight for American parts here in Europe.
Getting a nice stylish chain guard is too expensive, at least 65 bucks before tax, so it would end up to be almost a 100. I always loved JC Higgins guards among the others, especially because they have those nice lines...
I have it for about a week now and already started working.
First a bit about the condition. It is powder coated candy apple red. The color is very nice and has just a few tiny chips that i've already fixed with nail polish :)
The wheelset, cranks and bearings are original. The fenders seem to...
So, another nice story of me getting a vintage American bike in Europe is here :)
First of all, yes, i do have unfinished projects, but this one is different! (Ha-ha, but true this time)
I was not intending to buy it, but i saw an ad on dutch Marktplaats with this photos:
The ad said 1950's...
Many forks are designed for drum/roller brakes, but probably not many 80's style BMX cruiser forks. But you can always buy a used one and weld a bracket on if you don't mind painting it.
How do you like the alignment and scale? Should i fix anything? I did not try it myself yet, just finished the project to send it to you so i didn't test it on a real bike. The foil has some stretch to it so you could have some amount of re-alignment with it, but if you feel like it lacks of a...
I use a similar machine at home that also runs from svg. Brother Scan'n'Cut CM700. It is a bit stupid because of a "simplified" interface that is supposed to appeal to people with no experience with computer graphics, but ends up to be way more complicated to work with then any professional...
I recon it is because there is a good market for Schwinn restoration, so people who spent time on making graphics for them rather earn money on selling decals then share it with the community for free.
Tell me what format do you need exactly and i convert my file and send you.
Thanks. I am working on a bunch of Schwinn graphics now for Corvette and later Typhoon for a couple of my projects and i make it all available for free soon.
I could possibly make it even better if i'd have a perfect example of original decal and a good quality photo of it. But i work with what...
If you need some graphics for a top tube decal - here is my take on it. Redrawn from my girlfriends '63 Corvette. It is not perfect but pretty close to it.
I have ridden them a bit, but my girlfriend totally loves Sachs Duomatic on her Schwinn Corvette i've built for her two years ago. She has Nexus 7 on her other bike, early 1990's Huffy California Cruiser, but surprisingly prefers two gears over seven stating it is more comfortable for her. So...
Where i am 7 speed Nexus hubs go for about 50$ for a new one (not from official store of course, otherwise it is 150$), 35$ for used one or 60$ for an entire old bike you can just rip off a wheelset and shifter from, slap some other wheels on and sell for 50$ :D
And yes, shifting is operated by...
The hub on this photo is a roller brake hub. Also an option for you, @Singleton
Shimano makes 7 and 8 speed hubs both with coaster and roller brakes. I love coaster brakes on my bikes and try to run them on all of them when it is possible. The exception is when i run Nuvinci CVT hub, then i am...
