    DIY spray paint rack

Oh ya it's great. Yesterday it was really blustery and I had to touch up a couple spots, easily moved next to a shed wall out of the wind easy peasy. The wide base seems uber tip proof in the wind too!

    DIY spray paint rack

This was a clothes rack from a local retail store that went belly up like 3 years ago. They were selling fixtures and this was $5. It was too low as-is so I cut the center pillar out and cut it into 2 equal chunks and made the rack 20" taller.

    Monark Americana cruiser.

The biggest problems the bike has now are the hard old tires, I have a set of newer used tires to try. The other thing is both rims are out of round enough to cause bouncing at speed! I'm not the handiest with a spoke wrench but I've got to try something. Probably would be awesome to swap some...

    Monark Americana cruiser.

Found this rack in my Brothers stash of parts. Looks right at home just setting on there. Maybe was on the bike when he got it?

    Next Lajolla aluminum frame project

Study of 3 pc bb adjustment led to a Park webpage where they recomended examinating the bearing cups - here is the existing fixed cup and a good used fixed cup. Wow!

The next build off? Plans for the future

Your Huffy sure looks like my Kent LaJola! Maybe the lowly wallymart coaster brake bike rises with a 3 speed!

    Next Lajolla aluminum frame project

Looks like both @Kevin B , @Captain Awesome 's bikes have one piece bottom brackets. Mine has a 3 piece bb. Unfortunately I only rode it a little then it got parked. Now I'm disassembling it for painting and going to change the chain ring. Spinning the bb I thought it was a bit noisy...

    Monark Americana cruiser.

52t chainring and 19t cog on hub. According to the gear calculator, First (low gear) = 48 gear inches with a .68 to 1 reduction. Second (high gear) = 71 gear inches and is direct drive. Compared to a 1955 Schwinn Tiger SA 3 speed with SA type AW 3 speed hub. The ratios are 0.75, 1.0, and 1.33...

    Monark Americana cruiser.

Stem installed and test ride went ok. My goodness this rig is tall geared in high (direct drive). My guesstimation is 52t chainring and 20t on the rear hub. in low I think there is a 30% gear reduction and it's much easier to pedal. Here is a pic of the shift cable setup. Too bad they...

    Monark Americana cruiser.

My late brother picked this bike up at Ann Arbor swap 3 years ago, shortly before he passed. I don't think he ever touched it after bringing it home. After replacing a tube and a rim strip and grease and adjust front hub it rode smoothly down the driveway. I extended the seat post and am...

    Next Lajolla aluminum frame project

@Captain Awesome Sorry I did not follow your build thread thru completion, at first looked like a you were using a hybrid frame. Went back and caught up, thought you polished the aluminum but I see you painted it. Very nice 2 tone fade.

    Next Lajolla aluminum frame project

Started to clean all the stickers and residue off the frame. Gonna blow it apart for paint. Would like to strip frame to bare aluminum, but I expect for durability, an easier job will be primer, wetsanding and a painted finish.

    Bendix hub

@musclebikemadman Thanks for the info. The shifter does snap very solidly into gear. @idiotboy Thanks man I see what you mean. For some reason I thought it was bigger. I extended the seat post today and after I get a taller stem I expect this to be an awesome rider.

    Bendix hub

Got this Monark a couple days ago. It's equipped with a Bendix 2 speed manual hub, and as there is a lot of info in this thread, I thought I would ask my question here... The hub shifts ok now but there seems to be an extra nut and lock washer on the non drive side. There is no rear stay...

    The Great (Haro) Escape

It is done. After an extended absence, I got the idea do go after a dirt track racer look. These Wald bars came off an old Murray cruiser. Seatpost from some hybrid bike, seat was a internet special.

    Horsefarmer's fresh finds

Helped with a couple of rummage sales and was given this Monark bike of unknown year. My late brother picked this bike up at the AnnArbor swap. He never got around to working on it. Needs tires and TLC. Will start a build thread. I don't know anything about the Bendix 2 speed! crazy front...

    Next Lajolla aluminum frame project

Here is a Next Lajolla single speed cruiser bike as sold by Mall-wart circa 2007 for I believe around $90. Not lots of info about these bikes online. Aluminum frame. Inherited from my brother, Unfinished project. Threw some parts on it from the stash, then parked it. What it looks like...
