    Quill style seatpost help

    look at some old stems and cut off the handle bar clamp part. Might have to do some hand filing to make the seat guts fit the new area you cut off.

    It will work if you use an Avid BB7 road version. I have had them on 2 different bikes in the past. The road version has a different ratio at the pull arm for short pull levers.

    With the single rail you can use the generic rail clamp or even a modern micro adjust seatpost. Brooks has you when you have a saddle with twin or tripple rails though. Tim

    There are 2 different quill sizes very close in size, 22.2mm and 21.2. I have seen this same look when someone drives a 22.2 quill in a 21.2 steerer tube. Tim

    It is an easy fix , but requires a special tool. Might be something better tackled by your local bike shop. You will already be there to get the replacement part that will be needed.     Take a look at bikeflights.com, I have used them several times to ship and for travel. Last time I used them,I sent a complete 24" bmx cruiser from MI to MA for $28 + $5 for residential delivery. Bike was delivered in 3 days. Tim

    Bent Springer Fork

    To do the job right, you should first install the new fork, then measure from the center of the bottom bracket to the ground. Subtract an 1 1/2". This should give you a "good" place to start as far as crank length, otherwise it's a crap shoot resulting in multiple crank purchases. Tim
