Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

Slow going, but I'm pretty close to complete. Made up a new bracket and mounted the chain guard, then I moved the crash bars back, and mounted them to the holes where the drop stand is supposed to bolt up. If I locate a 24" drop stand in the next week or so, I may ditch the crash bars in favor...

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

The brake shoes wear down, and the springs lose tension over time, mostly. This hub is about 75 years old, so it's not entirely unexpected. That one is actually a leather Selle Anatomica saddle. This one is the newer, heavier duty one with the aluminum frame, for us clydesdales.

Took it for a shakedown ride this morning, and other than needing to fine-tune the cable that actuates my dropper post, it was awesome.

I need another pair of hands to help me complete the cushcore tire insert 8nstallation, and then it's done. My best local bike building buddy has been on his honeymoon, however.

▀▄▀▄▀▄ 𝘚𝘗𝘌𝘌𝘋𝘍𝘐𝘚𝘏 𝘚𝘗𝘌𝘊𝘐𝘈𝘓 ▄▀▄▀▄▀ ( or... How To Turn Your Cycle Truck Into A Supercharged Cycle Car Racer Using Two Kiddie Cars)

You know, I have a governor housing for a truck-mounted generator that looks very much like a small supercharger. I think it may be the perfect size for your "blown drag mill".

I put fenders on it, as well.

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

It used to not be such a big deal to fall back to page two, but when there are only two pages... I wrapped Cherry in a YBN chain, and installed the Bendix shifter. After yanking my lever a couple of times and turning her crank, it looks like the 2 speed hub is working pretty well, though I...

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

Waiting on a chain to show up, and realized I don't have a locknut for the crank with fine enough threads in my parts drawer. For the time being, the skip-tooth sprocket has been replaced by the one from Cherry Mk.I, and everything spins well. I want to test the rear wheel before I tear it down...

Progress today will be minimal. I got distracted putting a new tire on the Shelby before I put Cherry up on the stand.

I was thinking about adding a rack, and some saddle bags to fill them up.

Okay. Mounted up some tires, shortened the layback seatpost a bit, and now we're here: Some clean up to be done on the fork, stem, and rear wheel. After that... Fenders? Flick stand?

My thoughts exactly. I'll true it up, and mount a brick tread Duro on there.

While I was waiting for the groom to show up so we could go get fitted for tuxedos, I laced up the S7 for the front.

I am leaning toward the truss fork, as well. Going to lace up the 24" S7 wheel this week, I think, and then I'll be sure.

Who do you get your parts from?

First place I check is Lazy Eye Jake in the old farmhouse just past the trailer park outside of town. That dude has EVERYTHING.

I think that I will lace up the front wheel before I make my final decision on the fork. Also, seat pic:

I finally got a chance to dig through some parts, and look at alternative fork options for Cherry. Hard to decide between the original truss fork and the '70s bargain basement telescopic "BMX" accessory fork. Also pictured are the crash bars and 2 speed Bendix 24" wheel.

I scored those OddMonē bars a year or two ago used, and slightly trimmed in length. Had them on my Fisher CR7 before, but now the have a new home.

Yep, this Rocker is Reynolds 853. At least, the main tubes are. I have an old Raleigh that's also based on a Reynolds tubeset.
