Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

@kingfish254 One feature making a comeback from Boss Ross this time around will be the tassels. Well, you know, with a twist.

Wow, that was BO5, eh? Who knew?!?

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

A pile o' parts to cherry Cherry out. Persons seat, vintage hoops with an old lever-action 2-speed, '60s Nitto bars, some repop crash bars for the rear, whitewall Duro S2 and S7 tires in 24", and some other stuff.

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

Every one since 7, except one, plus a couple of supplemental ones so 7-9 of them?

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

It's sort of like a mini Zep, and its smaller size definitely makes the tubes look chunky. It would take 26" wheels if I only did 1.75 tires, but I think it's sort of neat that it's a 24".

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

@Wildcat I would have to look again, but I seem to remember that it did. I'll post a pic of the ser# when I shoot some updates tomorrow.

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

Probably no more pics until late Tuesday or Wednesday. In the meantime, know that I have a Bendix 2 speed (not kickback) rear S2 wheel, and an unlaced 24" S7 rim/tire for the front. Oh yeah, we're going 28H here! Also a red/white troxel seat and several forks to choose from. Will demonstrate...

    You in with what?

Similar to the one that I used on this:

    You in with what?

@Pondo I have an old cheapie '80s BMX telescoping suspension fork that I was thinking about, if only because it can't accommodate a head tube taller than 4". Also have a Sunlite Monark-style springer that I could make work, but I DO have a Girvin on a stalled project, too.

I love the way that the name for your build just rolls off the tongue.

What happens with a trike with missing spokes?

The wheels are going to wobble. If the rider is rough on it, carrying loads, cornering at more than about 5 mph and/or riding it on two wheels, it's likely they will pop more spokes, leading to catastrophic failure of a wheel. Trike wheels undergo heightened levels of lateral (sideways) stress...

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

While I am building this up, I will also have a 27.5 hardtail MTB project in the works, so I will sneak a few pics of it in periodically at @OddJob 's request. Wrong stem, no cranks, and haven't trimmed the steerer on that Manitou fork yet.

    Midriff-ter MTB...My home from May 1 - Aug 1...pg 15 !

Looking forward to this. Not for the build-off, but I started putting together a 2013 Spot Rocker last week, so we'll see what ideas I can steal...errr... take inspiration from.

Cherry Rides Again - 1937 Rollfast

...pation. One of my first customs was a 24" cruiser named after my partner's alias she used while writing for an entertainment news/gossip website back then. This time, we'll use a 24" 1937 Rollfast Super frame and fork, and maybe the front sprocket from the original bike.

What have you been riding lately?

I went on a bike tour of some of the local breweries on Easter Sunday. I thought my Crust Lightning Bolt single speed was the best choice for the day.

    Bendix 86 Coaster Hub Repack

I had a model 79 Mexico hub with four shoes like your 86, and it was excellent. I ended up switching to Shimano eb110's because of availability of parts, but the Bendix was great while I ran it.
