I resumed working on this bike which has been in boxes for over a year now. I figured I'd better finish it before the batteries go bad or something. I had to gently squeeze the down tube to get this to fit. Luckily you can't even tell it's just a little more round now, It was so close to fitting...

Thanks it came out pretty much exactly how I was picturing it. The fork looks a little chunky and I need to add a stabilizer loop to keep the front wheel fromJust flopping around side to side But the Spring reaction feels pretty good , it's nice and progressive.

I'm very close to having a leaf springer...

It's supposed to shoot up to 20ﾟ today but still feels like negative 5 right now. I really thought by waiting till the end of the Winter it would be warmer but no such luck.

Not a ton of dramatic looking progress today but I'm laying the groundwork for the front and rear suspension and it's coming together well. I'm hoping that by tomorrow I have a rideable bike and then I can spend Tuesday accessorizing and photographing.

OK I'll stop whining now. I decided it was time to stop playing around with the alignment and get serious. I think it's pretty darn accurate now. At least as accurate as other Elgins from 1936. I'm glad I fixed the angle of the rear sweep it looks much better now to me. And here's a little...

Thanks, I was wondering if you were going to chime in on this build. This is my mock up of the leaf spring setup. I think it's relatively simple and elegant. The cool thing about this is I can add or reduce leaf springs as needed to adjust the spring rate. Of course there will be no dampening...
