    '36 Elgin Osprey.

I know I'm late to the party as always but this is a bike that I've wanted to build for a few years now. I've been working on finding the time and space to do it but I think I might finally be there. The concept is what if Elgin tried to come out with a dual suspension bike like Huffman and...

    L'Angelo Di Ferro the Movie!

... Ok maybe more of a music video, but still. This was a thing I was so excited to put together while I was making it but for some reason it took me three years to make it happen. Oh well, better late than never. enjoy!

    BO15 Jack Knife

Well six weeks and I haven't even had time to think about working on this. I went into the workshop tonight to get something and discovered Shaggy let me know what he thinks about my progress. Realistically this isn't going to happen again this year. I'm so jealous of you guys that have time...

    BO15 Too Forking Forksome

Some of those builds are not too far off from what I've got in the works and I'm going to be using up quite a few forks as well (at least 5).

Ok finally some visible progress. I always seem to start these builds with the head tube and this one is no exception, except it has two head tubes. I needed a longer 1 1/8 head tube so I'm going to cut one in half and weld it to the top and bottom of the skinnier one like a lugged frame...

    BO15 Jack Knife

Hi, I'm fashionably late to this party as always but hopefully I'll finish one this year. Some of you may wonder if I ever finished Volo, sadly no, its been collecting dust ever since the build off ended last year but I will finish it I promise (I'm putting in a vote now for the unfinished...

Thanks for all the encouragement. I was pretty bummed to see the doors close on my goal of getting this done in time for the build off. I won't let this become another one of my unfinished projects but I do need to put it aside for now and deal with the failing roof on my house.

This is as far as I got, I really needed to be at this point in June to realistically make the deadline. I'm looking forward to the sculpting phase of this build. About 75% of the wood in this pic is going to be carved out when its done. I'm going to be advocating for an "anything goes" WBO...

Well I'm out. I thought I was going to be able to try to at least kick a field goal with what I had but after reviewing the glue-ups I did yesterday I found a bunch of careless mistakes that put me into a tailspin I can't recover from. I would say I'm punting but I don't even have possession of...

    BLACKBIRD (Skylark Convertible)

You're not being very resourceful. Your RRB trophy has a skip tooth chain. I'm surprised you don't have a big stash of them anyway. I thought we were all sitting on a horde of them.

A bicycle? Aww crap, I thought this was Rat Rod Bureau's. Well this is embarrassing.

I've been burning the wicks at both ends this week. If I can get everything glued up today I might have a rider by the deadline.

    I'm still in the race.

I really hoped to have this thing glued after the long weekend but I failed. I had to clean up my bench area and I'm out of paid time off so I'm back to work. Its not looking good at this point.

It tapers from 1/2 to 1/4. The steam heats up the lignin in the wood and you can feel the wood stretch as you roll it over the form. When it cools it stays more or less in it's new shape.

Do you have an apprenticeship program in your shop?

I also managed to get all of the aluminum parts welded up. I know they look kind of chunky right now but most that aluminum is going to be buried in the wood.

Still going... Here's a video I just made of me steam bending the wood for the fork in case you were wondering what that looked like. This is a relatively easy bend, some of them looked much more chaotic than this. The fork is being made up from four parts with 5 layers each so I have to do...

I don't think so, I was planning to grind them all nice and smooth but I'll see what my welder thinks.

It never ceases to amaze me what cool shapes you can make when you just cut up sheets of metal and bend it around a little bit and put it back together.
