I got the antlers all welded up in their permanent locations. And the pedals are done. The best part about these pedals is I didn't have to lift a finger to make them. Other than some verbal input my friend did all the fabrication. He's got about 18 hours in them. No way I could have squeezed...

Today is been pretty frustrating and unproductive but I did finally figure out how I'm going to clamp on my handlebars. After trying lots of different options that I thought would be easier I went back to plan A. 1 down 5 more to go. Its so tedious, but this is where having TIG welder really helps.

    11:11 FINISHED!

A weekend Build-Off, this should be interesting

And here's a sneak peak at some pedals that are in the works. I have a friend who wanted to help me and I'm not really one to collaborate on projects but these are pedals I wanted to make for the last build I did and I ran out time. So I did a quick doodle and turned him loose and he's really...

So not long after i sketched the fork for this build it occurred to me that it opened up an opportunity to make some really cool unconventional bars. Of course the way I'd envisioned it in my head didn't quite work out but after some trial and error I came up with something I can live with...

So there was just one thing that was bothering me about this set up and that was the spring retainer bracket. It was like having a splinter under your finger nail when I looked at it. So I cut the whole thing apart...JK. I did get the spring spaced properly and that freed up some space behind...

Thanks. A rubber bumper would help things and I have the space for it. I actually had to add a steel spacer because I missed my target for the seat post angle by a few degrees. One of those mistakes that prove to be beneficial. I'm going to push forward though. It was probably foolish of me...

So I got my latest suspension seat post operational. Its a bit complicated but I did my best to keep the mechanics concealed so that it doesn't detract from the flow. This is actually version 3.1. I had it set up last night with the pull spring and I was going to use two of them, one one each...

Yes they are motorcycle fenders. They are about 5" wide. Its a pretty heavy gauge steel. I'll be cutting an inch out of the middle and welding them back together.I'm also planning to add duck tails. I wrote about them in post #37.

I finally figured out how to make this seat post work and look like I'd been picturing it in my head. Third time will be the charm.

Here's round two. Its way stiffer but I'm not loving it the appearance as much. I'm going to move on to the bars and sleep on this. I have a third idea that is a variation on the first. We got lots of time still right?

I've come to realize that I have a serious leverage issue with my design. Stay turned for the version 2.0...

Wow, I think I actually found the perfect part for this application. Does anyone know how to calculate the correct pressure? http://store.easylift.com/d0m0zf3-050-145-xxxn/ We need to use "maths" This is hillarous but not terribly informative.

I'm thinking maybe a gas traction spring would be just the ticket for this application.

I got the suspension seat post fabed up. It works pretty sweet but the spring I picked out is a little bit way too soft. I spent the morning looking for a stiffer replacement but I didn't find any that were a perfect fit. This one should work fine for the photo's though.:wink1:

Thanks, I have a ton of work to left actually to get even close to where I want it. I've already deleted some things like the custom built drum brake wheels with internally routed cables. Its a little overwhelming when I start to realize how much is left to do and it would be pretty hopeless...

Yes, the spring is for the suspension seat post.

Me too! I wish I could just wave my hands over it and make my ideas reality. I guess I'll just have to mock it up and use my imagination.

Well it took all weekend but my project is totally forked. That "beak" looking thing is the removable top plate that secures the upper legs to the steering tube. I still have lots of welding and guessetting to do but I'm happy with how accurate this basic frame work is. It rides pretty nice...
