I think to be the right light it would need to be smaller so it could tuck under the stem behind the spring. But it really just makes the front too complicated. It feels more balanced without a light. Sometimes less is more.

Flipped the headlight bracket to the front of the springer. Maybe a little better, but I don’t think it needs the headlight.

Finally I got a fender bobbed. I like a middleweight fender with a fat tire. It tucks in tight. I’ll get the fender painted to match and I need to make an upper bracket.

Also made a quick bracket for the headlight. I’m not sure if it’s staying. I think it’s interesting from the front, but it’s a little too high from the side view.

Getting a little bit of work done today. I made a laid back seat post. Then I trimmed the seat guts a little bit so that the seat post could pass through. Still needs a bit more trimming to get the seat to sit level.

Well, I tried the rack and I would say it’s a no. It’s too heavy. Another rack might work better, but I don’t seem to have any laying around. I think a short fender is still probably the solution, or nothing.

I also dug out these light for a headlight and taillight combo. No idea what the rear light is from, and I think the headlight is a tractor light. The headlight paint is even a decent color match. I’m not sure if it needs a headlight though, I don’t want it to take away too much from the...

@MONARKofSoCal I think you are cheating off of my homework :D. When I was getting the wheels out of the rafters I also pulled out a rack. I ran out of time last night to see how it would look on there. I'll give it a shot to see how it works. The other idea was a bobbed fender, but I'm not...

I remembered that the 50’s hornet I posted earlier had a mismatched set of wheels on it when I got it, and luckily they were still here. They are both pretty nice wheels with matching patina. The rear is an s2 and the front an s7. It’s a cool look and might be the winner.

@Bike from the Dead , Like what @MattiThundrrr said you usually buy there from a tack shop. I think the company went under for a bit, but they ended up being bought. I've had the tire for a while and if I remember correctly I bought it directly from Jerald. @MONARKofSoCal I've been thinking...

@kingfish254 I thought the same thing about the spring mimicking the fins! @Mr. Monkeyarms I’m probably in the minority, but generally I don’t like the look of these forks when flipped. I think they look more elegant in the stock layout. I had a chance to mock up some black wall tires today...

Agreed. I like the look of both set of tires. I’ll pull out some black walls and mount them to get a better idea.

I’ve also been think king that this might need black wall tires. So I did a quick photoshop mock-up. It looks a lot tougher with them, really changes up the look. I think I have a Jerald slick around here somewhere.

Ok, ok, I’m not throwing in the towel just yet on this one. I got a lot of other projects done, so I’m going to try to finish this one. I don’t really have the time to make a jig to straighten the fork. I’ve tried out a few different one and I think this beehive springer might be the winner. It...

I like the style of the new direction! Those wheels look familiar too 😉

I think this bike might be dead in the water for this years build off. I really like this bike and will finish it, but my energy for this one has kind of vanished. With a two year old, work, and trying to finish up my hot rod I don’t have a lot left. I’ve been finish up other nearly finished...

    Really liking the shorty build!

@kingfish254 oh yeah, I remember that build. I might try that out, but I don’t know if there’s enough good fender. You can’t really tell from the picture but there are three tears in the metal.

Your fender looks pretty much exactly the same. Though yours looks to be a middleweight fender, which would fit a little easier in my frame. Also, the fender on mine has flat braces that tend to be on older/prewar bikes. Westfield build some elgin bikes, so that very well could have been who...

That’s an interesting idea, I hadn’t even thought about that.
