    Single & Ready to Mingle

Summers been busy, and I haven’t had too much time for bikes lately. I had some time tonight to dig through some more parts to see what sticks. It’s funny because I built my first custom bike called ‘Stripped & Teased’ way back in build off #4. Back then I had no parts and had to find each...

1980 Schwinn cruiser and Electra relic

I haven’t had a lot of time to work on bikes but I recently picked up a nice Electra for cheap and is being used to tow my daughter around in a trailer. I also picked up a pretty nice 1980 schwinn cruiser last night that has a nice mcs stem.

I’m with you Tim on not having a fender. It just looks so clean without it. Could be interesting to do a shorty fender that was painted to match the tire, but it could be ugly and/or unnecessary. Really liking this build, hope to find one of these frames some day.

    Revenant

Really enjoying watching the battle you’ve gone through on this build. These turn of the century bikes are crazy!

‘Sexy mean vibe’ could be a good name for a bike!

I could see that. The walls are pretty thin on it. I don’t see any cracks and the bike likely won’t get much abuse, but a good reminder to keep an eye on it.

You should also check the cream thick bricks with the beehive fork. I’m also for leaving the blue paint as is, has a really good look.

Great deal! You might want to specify what part of Arizona.

    Single & Ready to Mingle

Not a lot of progress lately. I’ve been out of town for two weeks and about to head out again. Here are a couple pictures that are a little more clear. Also found the stem that I plan on using. I think it’s French, I like the details that it has. It will sit a little lower and I think I’ll ad...

Really nice wheelset. I like using the Electra wheels too, and some of the felt rims are exactly the same. Also, I have used a number of the Jerald slicks and they are awesome.

I just noticed how you connected the truss rods to the stem. That’s a clever idea.

They only built them for about three years in the late 50's. I also think they made balloon tire version post war for one year, and they are even more rare. There was a build up of on this site a numbers of years back by @SimpleMan but the pictures are lost.

Thanks. It’s kind of a fun game trying to get them to match.

Had a chance to get the tank straps painted to blend in a little better. So far it’s all spray paint, I’ll break out the acrylics to color match them a little better. With the straps going between the two tanks halves it is surprisingly difficult to get it mounted.

SOLD 1973 Schwinn Suburban frame/fork/threaded bottom bracket

Such a great color. Looked good in all of your configurations, especially the one with the truss rods. What size of wheels and tires did you have on it then?

That mount turned out good! I think you would have been fine welding that too.

    Schwinn Varsity Party Bike

If you ever want the correct seat I believe they had Ideale leather saddles, but I can’t remember the model number. Mine still has the original one, but at some point it got wet and curled up the sides.
