Sometimes I hold those brooks saddles in my hand and I think they are so big, they’ll ‘take over the bike’ Not in this case. -saddle looks awesome and you get the comfort !! Super cool build

I slapped the rest of the thing together: I did my best to true the wheels…. They’re close, but far from perfect. The kickstand is WAY short…. Gonna have to find a block or something…. I don’t care to scramble for a rusty kickstand. Maybe test ride next weekend.

So…. Dag-gone! You’d think bolting some old rusty parts together would be a snap! NOT!!!! Wow…. Super tough to get the rear wheel, chain and chain ring straight! -as I’m super happy to keep the original chainring, that thing was CROOKED…. Lot of dinging and clanging trying to get that thing...

And, super pumped here: wheels all set, crank swapped out and BB relubed, fenders bobbed and installed and swapped out the grips. In a good spot!!! Definitely sunk some hours into this guy, but for the most part, really solid progress.

And I got lucky here: I soaked the original crank and chainring hardware and a potential replacement crank and its associated hardware. Unbelievably, both came apart in minutes. Marvel mystery oil is amazing. So, I was able to get a straight crank, salvage the original chainring and clean and...

So, struck out on the rear wheel: couldn’t find a spoke in my inventory that fit….(tried 3). I’m going short a spoke!!! Don’t let perfection get in the way of progress!!! I was able to snug up the other spokes, so…. There’s that!!

All good! No worries !!! I need all the help I can get and will definitely keep you in mind in the future! Truth be told, if I could have swapped some wheels from another bike, I’d much rather have done that than rebuild that rear hub! I can’t lace wheels and I love the original wheels that...

Thanks for the offer! I’ll keep you in mind on future projects! -I did actually rebuild the rear…. I haven’t done a great job of documenting this build, but I got the rear hub out and soaked in in degreaser for a week. Scrubbed all the parts, cleaned ‘em out, regressed and got back...

I thought I had the rims done: then after the picture, I decided to tighten some spokes on the rear wheel and….. snap! So I’ve got to scramble for a spoke and spoke nipple.

Not sarasota, but Alafia River State Park outside of Tampa had a STRONG MTB scene and trails when I lived there a number of years back. May want to reach out….. I think there a 2-3 off-road clubs that ride there regularly.
