Syracuse Classic Bikes 1st Annual vintage bicycle swap meet and show - February 10, 2024, Jamesville, NY

Hey everyone! Quick note as our swap meet is this coming weekend: as our venue is relatively small, 500 bike Bruce will be there (he lives not too far from the event) and there are other collectors as well in town that have a lot of bikes. -if you can’t find exactly what you’re looking for at...

It’s killing me not to wash, wipe and clean everything! -I’m trying to keep as much rust, dirt and grease on there a possible! Much easier said than done!!!

Thanks @Wildcat ! Nope….. these are just some rusty chrome fenders off of an old junker. I did the test fit, and there’s going to be plenty of work to get these guys to fit and be fully functional on a ride.

So…. Disassembly went ok: you learn a lot about why these guys sat all these years once you tear into them! -couldn’t get one pedal off…. The crank is bent. I’d wrestle the pedal off if the crank were straight, but it’s not. Need to round up a crusty crank n chainring. Front rim hub...

This is one crusty critter!!! I don’t even want to start wrenching on this thing until I soak some of these nuts, bolts and bearings. There’s a pretty ugly mix of dirt and rust all over this thing. Bombed it with marvel mystery oil…. I’ll hit it a few more times today and during the week and...

Thanks! I put a rear rack/baskets on my summer build-off ‘Proper Rat Rod‘ and love them: both the look and the function. sort of like a poor man’s Harley bagger! :21:

Yeah…. I guess it was inside a fence? Lol! it didn’t really roll very well. Anyone who grabbed it was going to have to carry it!

As I’m limited on space, I spent yesterday moving Christmas decorations out and getting a space ready in my basement for this guy. Still super tight, but it’s all I got for now!

Ok: here we go! Scored this old Huffman I think last winter. I used it as yard art all summer. Im going through a basket phase, so I thought it would be cool to build a beater that can be loaded down with gear and ridden on or off road. Wreck it, drop it…. Who cares! The goal here is to...

    Next build off………

Thanks! -I am going through a basket phase! I’m going to keep the rear baskets on there (I actually bought those about a month ago…. (They’re not technically mounted yet) and replace the small gray front basket on there with the larger, rustier one I have laying on top. pulled some chrome...
