I need advice on this fork issue

I acquired this Amp Research fork in near mint condition. Unfortunately the fork steering tube is 1/2 inch or so too short for the frame I wanted to use it on. Im wondering if I can cut/weld extend the tube or what my best options are. Any help is appreciated.

    Vitus 992

I have heard that. I have zero experience with road bikes. Ive only taken it for a short ride so far but I didnt notice anything unusual. I’m going to have to spend some time in the saddle to get a real feel for the ride of course.

I’m not a road bike guy either but it nice to try something out different from my usual stuff. I’ll probably learn a few things.

64 Moulton 4 speed and 67 Moulton automatic

I just finished refurbishing this 1965 Moulton 4 speed that I picked up a couple months ago. Powdercoated the frame silver. I painted the fenders myself . New tires. I got a nice vintage Wrights saddle cheap locally that just needed a good cleaning and conditioning plus some dye. New cables and...

Hard time build with a question about the gork

The fork length isn’t the issue. The fork will accommodate the 26 inch wheel no problem. I have 26 x 4 inch tires on mine and still have clearance.

Hard time build with a question about the gork

How’s the build coming? Did u get the fork issue figured out?

What have you been riding lately?

I've been using doing a lot of rail trai riding with this bike lately so changed the tires to a 2.8 on the back and 2.10 on the front. I got the tires for $5 ea. from my local community bike shop and they were like new.

I do know that I needed an extra pair of hands to get it set up. i assume u have the hard time original frame so the steering tube...
