    So I wanted to stretch the frame out on my bike and bring the rear tire back 5 or 6 inches. The rear drop outs on this lucky frame are bolted on so I got some 1/4 inch plate steel and cut a pair of longer drop outs. the stays widen out so I thought maybe I would put on a 4 inch back tire.     Yeah ..I wasn’t looking to do anymore restorations either but they are rare to find where I live and the guy who had it wasn’t into bikes. The bike was in pretty good shape as it was so I figured I should give it some well deserved TLC, and now I’m glad I grabbed it.

    Yes. I believe that’s true..mine was built in the original factory as far as I know..it wasn’t used much I dont think...I haven’t detected any issues with cracks in any part of the bike. It really is in remarkable condition for being 56 years old.

    Rust removal

    So I tried fine steel wool, w40 and krud kutter. Got most of the rust off the frame and fenders. Gave it a good waxing. I’m satisfied for now with the results.

    Yes. I don’t think the bike was ridden much. Maybe because the bars were bent. I straightened them fairly easy.

    Old thread I see. Not many people with Moultons I guess. I just recently found this Moulton Stowaway. original paint. One owner bike for 56 years!     First I punched holes in the leather just big enough for the casing body to fit thru but not the cap. Got I nice snug fit.
