    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Well, I had to re-make the headlight insert, it needed 2 clearance cuts on the sides, the outer diameter needed to be shrunk down about .015" to fit into the headlight, and the LED holes needed to be opened up by about .0015". Got that done, and installed the LEDs into it...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! I got the LEDs for my headlight in the mail the other day, and stayed late at work to machine the piece that holds them in the headlight. It needs a little bit more work to actually fit into the housing, but not much. I installed the LEDs and tried it out, and it's pretty much...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Got more work done on the bike today. So psyched for this to be done, it's fun working on but I can't wait to go for that maiden voyage. Drew/traced the license plate mount onto a piece of .06" 6061-T6 Aluminum sheet, don't know when I'll be able to cut it out, but the tab...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Got some real work done on the bike today, finally got to cutting! I did feel a little bad about cutting up this old classic, but you do what you gotta do. First cut: Shortening the seat tube: Next up was the seat post: Then came the rear fender, just a rough cut. I...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Worked into the night lastnight, got the wheels broken down, had to cut all the spokes as some of the nipples were seized to the spokes. Did the same on a set of donor wheels I've had kicking around. Also received a sweet Komet Super from Ratfink1962 in the mail (thanks...

NoHo, Mass Ride-The aftermath Begins on Page 7! Lots of Pics

Man, I gotta start watching the "Events" page! 'Hamp is right next door to me and I had no idea this was going on! (Not that my bike is anywhere near done yet, but I could've just followed you guys around all day, haha) Some awesome rides here, and I swear I've seen some of you guys before.

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! It is, in fact, bent. Only one leg, and I did my best to straighten it but just can't get it perfect. Not sure how I'll remedy that yet either. I'm afraid your comment about the plate went straight over my head...but thanks! Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Haha, me too, Hatfield to be exact. Little update on the build today, I finished the tear down and was finally able to remove the stem. The wedge is in good shape and so is the steer tube. Everything looks good! I found that the rear wheel has a big flat spot in it and also...

Re: My FIRST rat! Cool! I'm not actually in Greenfield, but this bike apparently was at some point in time. I'm a little further south than that.

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: My FIRST rat! Thanks for the heads up. I don't have a set plan to get it done by a specific time, but if it's done by August I may just have to enter it! "Wald" eh? Never heard of 'em. It's a cool piece, really shows how much differently stuff was made back in the day. Thanks for the...

    First build: "Church Rat"

I thought I'd get an early start on my build thread, so here it is. This is my first foray into vintage bikes, as well as "rat rodding" anything. I've always loved the style, but never had an appropriate project to try my hand for myself. Until, that is, my neighbor had a tag sale. I snagged...

    Western Flyer? AMF?

I hope I don't disappoint, this is my first attempt at building a rat rod bike. I've actually never even seen a bike this old in my town, let alone even touched one. All I know for sure is that I'll have fun with the build, and it will be a learning experience. If I have enough fun I'll make...

POST PICTURES OF YOU ON YOUR EVERYDAY RIDER!!!

My son and I, this was his first ride with us and the first time using the WeeRide Kangaroo bike seat (my wife took the picture): He loved it!

    Western Flyer? AMF?

That's a beautiful bike! Thanks for all that information, I appreciate the insight. The seatpost is the wedge-style, the wedge part of it is completely stripped and the bolt will not come out. I plan to cut the bolt, remove the damaged section, and re-drill and tap the wedge for the next size...
