    Bendix hub

What am I looking at here? It came off a '55 Schwinn Racer girl's bike, not sure if it was original to that bike. There are no markings on the hub body that I can see. It's 36 hole. The axle is off-center to the hub flanges. There's a small screw that threads into one end of the axle. The...

    Second build: No name yet

Thank you! I just hope this isn't a 3 year build like my first one...or was it 4!? [emoji50] Yes and no. The fork arrived partially disassembled for packaging reasons. When I first started putting it together, I assembled it reversed because it seemed like it just made sense that it would be...

    Second build: No name yet

Started putzing around with this Sears Fleetliner I picked up from member corysmeltzer a long time ago, and the rat trap springer fork I got more recently from member kirkpatrick, too... The goal is to source all parts from junk I've got laying around, except for wheels, those will have to be...

    Columbia refurb for my wife

Well, I finally got the right tires in...I misremembered the size when I ordered them the first time around. D'oh! So, she's a rider now! Just need to adjust seat and bar height to my wife's liking, and reattach the basket. Took it for a cruise around the driveway, feels like it just came home...

NERRB Northampton Nightlife Ride Saturday July, 23rd

I think I should be able to tag along...I'll run it by the wife (she knows my schedule better than I do, hah!) EDIT: Goldarnit! Nope, I'm out. Camping vacation starts that morning. Maybe I'll catch the next one. Have fun!

Headlight and Tail Light Gallery - Post Pics Here

Just an update/follow up post: Battery pack is a 12V, 3800mAh rechargeable pack stored in the handlebar bag. Negative is grounded to the frame, positive wire runs through some old cable housing I had kicking around. EDIT: Yay sideways pictures! Thanks TapaTalk

    Columbia refurb for my wife

Nothing was stuck, not even a little. It's like it was bought, ridden once or twice, and hung up in a dry barn for the next 50 years. I was surprised to see that the headset and crank bearings were completely dry - no oil, grease, residue of any kind - but no rust either.

    Columbia refurb for my wife

Bike is back together, just have to open up the hubs to clean and grease them, then have to pick and order tires. Man, this goes fast when all you do is clean and lube 'em, eh? ;)

    Columbia refurb for my wife

So I picked this bike up from a junk dealer/collector and, after looking it over closely, I've decided to leave it as is and just give it a cool cleaning, shine up the chrome, lube it up and hand it over to my wife. The serial number tells me it's a '65, and it looks to be very complete. She's...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Here's the new brake arm. I had to re-bend the piece that screws into the hammer handle, and of course the new piece didn't bend as nicely as the first. :( The black piece is another piece of old fence gate hardware. It helps keep the main piece from bending when excessive force is applied.
