New project for me, '51 Chevy truck

Very nice, I've got a bit of a soft spot for 1950's trucks, and that black '52 is no exception. Beautiful. Have fun on the build!

    newbie from massachusetts

As SCHWINNRAY69 said, click "Direct Link" on the photo you wish to share, then come back here to your post and hold control and press the "V" key to paste the code in. Personally I use the "IMG Code" (blue arrow in the photo below) instead of the "Direct Link" (red arrow) code, but to each his...

    Plasti Dip

I've had good luck with Rustoleum high-temp grill paint, goes on a nice dull flat black and covers nicely. I think it's the easiest paint I've ever worked with as far as avoiding runs and uneven spots. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=112

    stripping chrome with cola?

Never heard of using Cola to REMOVE chrome, but it will CLEAN chrome very nicely, especially if you rub it with a ball of aluminum foil while pouring Cola over it. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2

    Bicycle impressions

They do say first impressions are the most important, right? I don't have pics, but years ago I was racing a buddy of mine, he on his BMX and me on my 21 speed MTB. I was well in the lead but still pedaling for all I was worth when, out of nowhere, my chain broke just as I was pushing down with...

Let me know what you think

I'm a fan, the tail light looks great either way IMHO; and the headlight is good too! Isn't this what rat rodding is all about? Building your ride the way you want it, with what you have on hand or with what you can get very cheap? Definitely winning in my book.

Headlight and Tail Light Gallery - Post Pics Here

Thank you! I considered doing separate batteries for each light but then I found this great leather bag that fits on the handlebars perfectly, so the batteries will go into the bag and get grounded to the frame, and I'll just mount a pair of toggle switches to it and it'll be good to go...

    27" Fork

    27" Fork

I plan on running a 24x1.75" up front. A couple of weeks ago I saw an old road bike on the side of the road for free. I knew when I saw it I should just grab it and figure out what I could use once I got it home, instead I decided to leave it and see if it was there on my way home from work. Of...

    27" Fork

I'll be on the lookout for your PM. That's ok, I plan on running a somewhat skinny front anyway. Thanks for the heads up, I'll either replace the cranks with shorties or keep my bending somewhat conservative. As a matter of fact, that second pic is my inspiration for my possible new front...

    27" Fork

Correct. I want to bend it as much as possible and plan on running a 24" front, building truss rods, etc. I'd rather the fork legs be round for ease of bending.

    27" Fork

Here's a measurement over the bearing cups: And here's one of the head tube length. The measuring tape was a tad crooked, so it's closer to 5 7/8" than it looks.

    27" Fork

I don't have any direct photos of the headset/head tube, but I do have these. I can get a more direct photo if needed.

    27" Fork

Alright, I've done some searching here, in local stores, online, etc. but I must be doing something wrong. I'm in need of a 27" fork to fit my late 1950's/early 60's AMF-built Western Flyer. Can anybody point me to one? It must be steel as I plan on bending it, other than that I'll take...

Headlight and Tail Light Gallery - Post Pics Here

Tail light: I started off with your basic CatEye round reflector (please, mind the grubby hands). Drilled a hole in the center of the back of the reflector body, used a little heat to separate the two halves, popped it apart, stuck an LED through the hole from the inside (got it here if...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Do it up man! It was surprisingly easy. Lemme know if you want some info on how I did mine, where I got the LEDs, etc. Haha, I'm fully prepared. It was decided long ago that I'd be heading there eventually anyway ;) FWIW, I did feel a little bad about cutting the frame and fenders. I must say...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Looks good! I have yet to see mine mounted, but based on your pics I think I'll like the finished product. Thank you, me either! Thanks! Pretty simple really, and it throws way more light than I expected it to. I've hit a bit of a speed bump on the build, and haven't done anything since my...

    First build: "Church Rat"

Re: First build: Thanks! I'm trying to put lots of little details in, but still keep it somewhat simplistic...not sure how that's supposed to work, haha. Thanks! I'm running out of things to do before I drop my hubs off at a shop to have the wheels built. I also may have changed my mind...
