    A Proper Rat Rod

3M outdoor 2-sided tape, the gray stuff with the red removable part, will stick a head badge on strong enough that you will have to carve it off, then little brass screws from the hardware store for looks

just background clutter. it's a new front tire for the ice racer, I leaned it on the furnace in december so it would warm up and be easier to mount but our season got cancelled due to the lack of ice. I just haven't found a better place to put it yet

This is our paint selection for the bike a couple years back I built a Columbia for my girlfriend to mimic her Suzuki and I really liked the look,so I’m gonna do something similar to this bike. It’s a bit lighter of a gray color and I’m using chrome wheels instead of black but this is the...

The black rims look more "government issue" , the red ones look better with the color scheme of the bike. just an opinion

Rear wheel is trued, tires mounted, front hub bearings cleaned, greased and adjusted. All the bike parts aside from a couple accessories are ready for installation. I got some primer on the frame and fork, I’m gonna let it dry a few days in this humidity.

Anchors Aweigh AKA Fighting Checkmates - Riding toward the finish line!

I’m using that same seat in plain black, if you warm the cover up just a little bit you can stretch the rear corners off, then the whole cover comes off. I soaked my seat pan in wood bleach then put it back together but didn’t take any pictures. I’ve done it to a few of those seats it’s not...

    Voting Strategies

the first build off I participated in was #9, after seeing the bikes Fordsnake won with the previous couple years I knew I was not "winning" this thing, I just wanted to join the fun. We were limited to 3 votes that year, and I got 1 vote. at first I was kinda bummed about that but then someone...

Yes it definitely darkens the metal, how much depends on the surface. I tried to take a couple pictures to show this but my phone kinda sucks

I got the chain guard and the crank unpainted, and the crank sprayed with rust prevention here’s a closeup of the surface finish from the permatexthe seat guts came out of the wood bleach bucket, and the seat pan went inthen I started unpainting the frame until all my drill batteries were dead...

supposed to prevent future rust, but it's not shiny like a clear coat. it's an uneven finish depending on the surface condition, so the part still looks old so I prefer it to paint. I'll try to get a good picture of something tonight. I've never tried it to preserve rust but now that you...
